a photograph is usually looked at--seldom looked into

January 31: munificent
I have some sneaky-munificent friends - the sort of people who, when an early-in-the-day conversation reveals that I'm out of lunch-fixings and low on money, 'conveniently' also 'need' to order lunch in, and offer to buy this round.
March 2: affable
Viewed from the outside, my dad is probably the most affable member of my nuclear family; my mom is more selective, my brother both busy and oblivious, while I am either shy or aloof, depending on the day.
  1. What keeps you up at night?
lately, it's the inner-workings of my own brain. There have been several nearly sleepless nights over the past couple of weeks, maybe a month. There's too much to think about, and too much time to think it. And in the last few days, two very good friends have had family members in the hospital, so I've been worrying and all the rest of that. Combined with some peoples' inability to realize when appropriate times of day for using the telephone might be..., and the allergy situation reaching crisis proportions, I desperately need sleep!
  2. What’s the last music you purchased? (online, on CD, whatever)
the song "Hold on Loosely" by .38 Special. Don't ask.
  3. Describe the house in which you grew up.
3-bedroom, 1-bathroom ranch on a slab. Detached 2-car garage with workshop. Large unfenced yard. Located approx. 7 miles outside a college town (2 universities + tech college) of nearly 30,000 people. Quiet bluff-top neighborhood of about 30 houses completely segregated, and surrounded by rural areas. Interstate access 10 minutes away. Ideal place to raise 3 very, very different children.
  4. Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
    • I need to buy new jeans. Two pairs that I've been wearing for a while have nearly outlasted their usefulness to me.
    • That bag is ~5x larger than the largest purse I would ever consent to carrying, even as a favor to the person who owned it.
    • I like the leather jacket, unless it's a short blazer. I'm not a fan of short leather blazers.
    • Black and white photographs always look more 'quiet' to me. I wonder if that's something I 'learned' during my short stint as a Mass Communications major, or if it is an original thought? So much second-guessing....
    • I'm not a fan of parking meters. I think they discourage at least as much traffic as they 'encourage', and so they probably cost the area that they're policing more than they bring in.

  1. I tend to agree that b&w pics seems quieter. Never thought about it. Maybe cuz we assume the "old days" were less noisy?

Also: Go to the pharmacy! NOW!!!!

    1. My doctor called in a prescription for the stuff, so I have to wait Even Longer before I can get it. But, boy, once I can get it, I'll be in the pink.... ;) For now, though, I'm just in agony. It's been an entire week. Haven't gone a week without it in years.

And I was awakened for the third day in a row by a non-emergency text message. If it happens tomorrow I'm flushing my phone.

  2. How's about you just leave your phone in the bathroom...downstairs...tonight??

And, I just realized that the stuff I've been taking once a day is only supposed to last 12 hours. Which explains why I feel so crappy...

    1. If I don't have the phone - my only phone - with me, and something happens...I won't know. I need (my own need, not your need or D's) to be available if something happens and y'all need something.

(That's a very needy sentence, but I think you know where I'm getting with that.)

I don't do well with the 24-hr versions at all--too wired for the first several hours, and no effect for the last few hours. 12 hours is the only way for me. I do all right with only 1/day, in a pinch, if I take the one in the morning. Still not a great way to deal with a constant problem, though.

  3. I get it about the phone. I used to be that way... ;-)

It may take me till Wednesday to get my itchy eyes and drippy sinuses under control; I think I've let this go too long...and the house is dusty, which doesn't help.
