they call me 'quiet', but I'm a riot

April 23: tabula rasa
The tabula rasa of a brand-new journal is the best psychological boost for my writer's soul.

  1. What was the last clothing item that you bought?
um, a dress. Y'all may have heard something about it somewhere....
  2. If you could stay one age forever, what age would you choose?
no, thank you! Progression is the point.
  3. When you say “lol”, are you really laughing?
yes, out loud even. I reserve "ha ha" or "hee hee" or "tee hee" (or any of myriad emoticons) for the happy/approving/smiling-but-not-laughing moments in my electronic life. And if anyone actually says "LOL" (as an alternative to actually laughing) in my presence, they should prepare for an immediate, brutal beating.
  4. What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in the past year?
I hope that it remains to be seen, but relatively shortly.
  5. If you started a business, what would it be?
I would not. See #10 below.
  6. Do your friends/family/coworkers know about your blog?
friends, yes--most of them. Some of them even read it! Family: none! And coworkers...two? Maybe? Possibly three.
  7. How long does it take you to write an average blog post?
if you can define "average", I can answer that question. Somewhere between five minutes and the five hours (off and on) that it took to draft this one yesterday. Or thereabouts...ish.
  8. How do you keep up with the blogs you follow?
    Google Reader.
  9. What is your bedtime? Is sex always involved?
    somewhere between 10:PM and 3:AM.
As for the second question - always? LOL!
  10. Introvert or extrovert?
I could not be more introverted if I had to be. And very, very few people with whom I am close are extroverted; I tend to be worn down by that type of energy.
  11. What is your biggest fear?
being chased by a pack of dogs near the edge of a cliff. (Hey, you asked.)
  12. What is the best job you ever had?
office manager of an educational service company. My boss was both business-smart and a terrific friend, my coworkers were great at their jobs, and the position allowed me to do what suits me and absolutely nothing else. It was a dream come true.
  13. Dog person/cat person/both/neither?
I'm a cat person, but I'm forever getting close with dog people. I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU, DOG PEOPLE!
  14. If you had $1,000 to spend any way you wanted, what would you do with it?
pay bills. I know, right? Once the bills are paid, I would buy a camera (or get started on it, anyway). That's my next save-for project.
  15. How do you "dress" your toast?
butter, always. Sometimes cinnamon sugar. Sometimes jam. (I'm loving the strawberry-rhubarb that I got for Christmas from D&R!) Sometimes a little curl of ham. I love toast.
  16. How do you feel about snow?
blarghhh. This was a good winter for that expression. It's turning out to be a crap spring for people who like to have warm fingers and toes, though.
  17. What was the worst job you ever had?
does this one count? One of my coworkers said to me today, "I would ask how your day is going, but I can see your face so I don't need to." I replied, "I hate everyone and everything."
    It was a typical day.
  18. What song can you not stop listening to? ["Don't Bring Me Down" by ELO]
  19. Love your name or hate it?
kinda hate it, but haven't come up with a fantastic alternative, so it's me. For now.
  20. How did you choose your blog/twitter handle?
    it's my inane college nickname
[blatantly stolen from The Cat, who got it here--appropriately enough. The title quotation is from "That's Not My Name" by the Ting-Tings]

  1. Well, to be fair, I don't really understand cat people, several of whom are friends and relatives. :P

Also: Yay Ting-Tings!! And yay (with a ?) ELO!!
