a misbegotten guess, alas

May 30: sward
My nerdiest friend likes to practice swinging his sword (for which he won an award) on the sward with his ward--named Ward.

  • What do you consider your hometown to be?
    redacted
  • What’s the hardest part of your average day?
    lately: remaining asleep
  • The easiest? Why?
    5:00 PM
  • What beverage do you reach for to quench your thirst?
under ordinary circumstances: tea. Under extraordinary circumstances: beer.
  • What is one not-so-secret goal you have for your life? I’ll let you keep your secret ones to yourself.
that's mighty kindly of you. I suppose I've told a few people that I'd like to move out of the place that I'm in, and into something just for me. A couple of bedrooms, a spot for some plants to get decent sun year-round, a garage for the car, and ample space between me and whatever scourge of humanity I end up with for neighbors.
  • What physical pain do you fear most? For example, I’m trying to decide how bad my jaw pain needs to get before I risk a potential needle from my dentist. So, for me, throbbing is preferable to jabbing.
fracturing, I suppose? I've never really thought about it.
  • Where do you find solace?
in friends. Writing. Reading. Music. Oblivion.
  • What makes you the saddest when you read/see the news?
    I don't
  • What do you eat for a favorite snack?
    cereal
  • What movie could you/would you watch more than two or three times and still enjoy just as much as the first time?
I'm a big re-watcher. Tonight I've got Strictly Ballroom on my mind!
  • What boy/girl first made you cry?
    Blake
  • What brand of coffee/tea do you drink most often?
Republic of Tea. I'll be placing an order soon, if anyone wants in!
  • Dig in the dirt with or without garden gloves?
I generally wear latex gloves when I mess with plants. It's murder to get soil out from under my nails if I don't, and gardening gloves are too thick when dealing with tender sprouts.
  • James Taylor or Carly Simon?
James Taylor. He's terrific. [link died]
[from The Cat, who got it here; the title quotation is from "Long Ago and Far Away" by James Taylor]

  1. I was trying to imagine what house might suit you. I can see you in a two bedroom bungalow with a nice yard for a garden and a patio in back to entertain. Definitely would have built-in bookshelves, or at least one of the bedrooms would end up being lined with bookshelves. And ample beer storage, of course. :-)
