I am a drunkard from another kind of tavern. I dance to a silent tune. I am the symphony of stars.

August 8: peripatetic
One of my coworkers is exhaustingly peripatetic; just thinking about the way she spends her vacations makes me weary.

  • Do you like Dubstep?
meh. Over-produced anything tends to turn me off.
  • Have you ever wandered around drunk with your friends?
Drinking doesn't make me wander-y, usually. I'm more of the mellower-and-mellower type. In the far-off past, though, I can remember heeding the call of the great unknown—which usually involved a major body of water, come to think of it.
  • Are you longing for the day that you'll be an adult (if you're not already)?
alas, I am already. But I doubt that I would have answered this in the affirmative at any point; I was pretty content to be whatever age I was at. It's never been (too much) about the numbers for me.
  • Have you ever felt like your heart actually stopped?
it does, actually, now and then. Something my doctor's checking into.
Metaphorically, though: yes. I've been there.
  • Are you a fast runner?
    not even close
  • What's something you've vowed to never eat?
I've never tried it, but I don't think I could handle veal
  • What emotions do you associate with the color blue?
depends on the circumstances. There are some blue walls that engender a visceral response in me that doesn't make much (psychological) sense. There's a set of blue eyes that seem to render me brainless (and generous). Those large bodies of water—about which I wrote, above—always, always calm me down.
  • Do you have a "poker face"?
sometimes. If I'm talking to someone I don't like (and thereby who doesn't know me well), probably yes.
  • Are you good at holding back your laughter if needed?
yes. I'm also terrific at making other people bust up when they're trying hard not to.
  • Do any of your friends shamelessly burp or fart in public?
nope, but I dated someone in high school who was absolutely notorious for the former. His first name was the same as a good friend of mine, and when the friend would call me, my mom would let me know by saying, "It's 'The Polite [x]'"--as opposed to '[x]' when my boyfriend called. Ouch!
  • When was the last time you had a good cry?
    29 July
  • Has anyone ever told you they wanted to marry you?
in a manner of speaking, it's happened a couple of times
  • Is there a soundtrack to a movie that you absolutely love?
well, that's a little vague. Movies that I absolutely love have soundtracks, yes. But there are also movie soundtracks that I absolutely love, which I think is the point, so that's what I'll answer. Ten Things I Hate About You and Garden State are two of the best. The movies aren't bad, either.
  • Do you have a place where you keep your keepsakes?
    all over the damned place
  • Have you ever had a "thumb war" with someone?
my former spouse was oddly fond of that
  • What's your favorite style of jeans (Skinny, boot cut, flare, etc.)?
all right, this is spooky: I was talking about this yesterday, with a coworker. I prefer straight-leg—not skinny, which always look uncomfortable or unflattering—but the sort of 501s type. Somewhere in my recent past, though, the BFF told me I should only wear boot cut jeans, and I took it to heart. Now I've got several pairs of fairly new jeans in that style. It doesn't really matter, as long as they're not flare. Can't do the flare.
  • Have you ever owned a diary/journal with a lock and key?
yep, but not in long enough that I barely remember it
  • Do you have trouble sleeping if you sleep anywhere else but home?
funny, isn't it? I can't even sleep when I'm home, now.
