the most exquisite folly is made of wisdom too fine spun

July 26: punctilio
I may lapse with a punctilio from time to time, but my manners are generally up to snuff.
July 27: slake
Thanks to a visit with the charming Betty Jo, I managed to slake my almost-unending hunger for cheese curds--for the moment, anyway.
July 28: precatory
Precatory thinking is all well and good, but has no place in financial planning or business decisions.
July 29: glaucous
The young woman at the next table was drinking glaucous cocktails that seemed to be lit from beneath.
July 30: superficies
He may not be the most intellectual fellow I've ever met, but the superficies make him worth watching.
July 31: fuliginous
It's not that my soul is "dark", exactly, but rather...deep and fuliginous.
August 1: shibboleth
If you tried to live your life more by listening to truth than by shibboleth, we might all be happier in the end.

  1. Tell us about the most recent wedding you attended.
this last Saturday, my big brother was married to his girlfriend of a year or so. It was his second wedding, and her third. Though there were many, many extenuating circumstances to sort through, it was a really lovely ceremony and a nice night. I'm happy for him.  [Representative photos have been posted to FB, by the way.]
  2. Do you enjoy attending weddings, or do they bore you to tears?
they don't bore me, but neither would I say that I "enjoy" them. There's something bittersweet about weddings, honestly. But I try to keep that whole train of thought to myself as much as possible.
  3. Does marriage in general make you feel confident and good inside, or skeptical?
    there are no universal truths.
  4. Do you have a photo blog? (If so, feel free to share the link with us.)
only this one, when it expresses itself that way
  5. Do you find yourself driving less due to the high gas prices?
not at all. My new car gets crap mileage--especially as compared to my last one, which exceeded the model average by almost 8 mpg--but I've never been a real gas-waster under any circumstances. I lump my trips together to limit annoyance more than to save fuel.
  6. What's the high temperature today where you are?
according to weather.com, "Today's High was 88°F at 4:05 pm when conditions were Sunny." I'm surprised it got that hot, because my AC barely ran at all. A nice change.
  7. "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." Agree, or no?
I haven't spent much hot-weather time in low-humidity locations, so I'm probably not the one to ask. I guess I can let you know after The Cat and I get back from our "Following Anna" trip.
  8. What's the hottest you've ever been in your life?
    no. comment. ;)
  9. Non-temperature related last question: In your opinion...who's hot?
    Jon Snow
[from The Cat, who got it here; the title quotation is by Benjamin Franklin]
