live, And deal with others better

  1. Would you have sex with the last person you text messaged?
    no, I would not
  2. You talked to an ex today, correct?
    we sent some FB mail
  3. Have you taken someone's virginity?
it wasn't phrased that way at the time--but in legalistic terms, yes
  4. Is trust a big issue for you?
trust is a big issue for everyone
  5. Did you hang out with the person you like recently?
I like lots of people. Some of them are "hang out with" sorts of people. Others are "friends online." Others are "appreciate from afar." Still others are "man, I wish that person would recognize my existence in some tangible way" types. Is that what 'like' means?
  6. What are you excited for?
I'm excited for another night's sleep without an alarm clock going off at the other end. And scones on a weekday. I'm excited for dinner with my friend Sara sometime this week, and drinks with my friend G, and a party—albeit for an incredibly depressing reason—on Saturday. Is that enough?
  7. What happened tonight?
laundry, playing with kitties, chicken pot pie, and reading
  8. Do you think it's disgusting when girls get really wasted?
girls have their own shit to get through. Sometimes they get through it by drinking too much. Disgusting? Meh. I'm a little more automatically turned off by people who are judgmental.
  9. Is confidence cute?
God, no. Even the word "cute" isn't cute. Gak!
  10. What is the last beverage you had?
    water
  11. How many people of the opposite sex do you fully trust?
I don't know what "fully trust" means. If that entails laying all my stuff in their lap for them to fix, then exactly zero. If it's about, who can I talk to when I can't talk to anyone else? There are a couple. Maybe five.
  12. Do you own a pair of skinny jeans?
they're sort of form-fitting, but not skinny like the kids wear
  13. What are you gonna do Saturday night?
I'm going to a retirement party for someone I really, really like working with, who I will miss a lot, whose retirement is going to fuck up my daily life, and whose decision to leave I completely support. It's confusing and makes me unhappy, but I'll pretend I'm fully pleased if I can.
  14. What are you going to spend money on next?
    necessities
  15. Are you going out with the last person you kissed?
we've gone out in the past. We've never been going out. We'll maybe go out, but not be going out, again.
  16. Do you think you'll change in the next 3 months?
yes. I generally do it twice daily, if not more often than that.
  17. Who do you feel most comfortable talking to about anything?
Fluffy, of course--often to the point of too much information. She's not the only person to whom I can talk, but definitely the one to whom I most often, most comfortably, do.
  18. The last time you felt broken?
    most of 2012
  19. Have you had sex today?
entirely no one's business but mine, eh?
  20. Are you starting to realize anything?
    sure
  21. Are you in a good mood?
    it comes and goes
  22. Would you ever want to swim with sharks?
not literally. It happens figuratively often enough.
  23. Are your eyes the same color as your dad’s?
they're pretty close. Mine are usually a greener shade of blue, and his are lighter, but you could tell we're related from our eyes alone.
  24. What do you want right this second?
    nothing. I'm content.
  25. What would you say if the person you love/like kissed another girl/boy?
it would depend, I suppose, on whether it was love or like, for starters
  26. Is your current hair color your natural hair color?
    maybe, in part?
  27. Would you be able to date someone who doesn't make you laugh?
    I can't even imagine such a thing
  28. What was the last thing that made you laugh?
Rupert, biting and licking and meowing at my hand while I pet him
  29. Do you really, truly miss someone right now?
    I really, truly do
  30. Does everyone deserve a second chance?
    no
  31. Honestly, do you hate the last boy you were talking to?
I'm not spending much time talking with boys lately
  32. Does the person you have feelings for right now, know you do?
I'd wager that the people for whom I have feelings (which is an incredibly inane euphemism, by the way) know it. I'm not one for hiding such things.
  33. Are you one of those people who never drinks soda?
    I am not
  34. Listening to?
    air conditioning
  35. Do you ever write in pencil anymore?
five days a week, I do
  36. Do you know where the last person you kissed is?
he's in the big city, or the capitol, or traipsing around the Mitten, or in the ether
  37. Do you believe in love at first sight?
why not. It's as likely as any other method of acquisition.
  38. Who did you last call?
when I checked my phone to determine the answer to this question, I had to laugh; it's been months since I last placed a call to a person. Hermits, unite! (Theoretically.)
  39. Who was the last person you danced with?
danced with? A person? I have no idea.
  40. Why did you kiss the last person you kissed?
several possible answers to this question appear here
  41. When was the last time you ate a cupcake?
earlier this week, I was gifted a cupcake by a coworker, for my birthday. Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Interesting.
  42. Did you hug/kiss one of your parents today?
no, I did not, but not for lack of wishing. They're home, you see, and so am I, so it's physically impossible.
  43. Ever embarrass yourself in front of a crush?
    welcome to adolescence
  44. Do you tan in the nude?
may I refer you to an earlier post, in the section regarding sunburn? It just doesn't seem like a prudent plan.
  45. If you could, would you take back your last kiss?
    no, I would not
  46. Did you talk to someone until you fell asleep last night?
    nope
  47. Who was the last person to call you?
Revs, who's called me twice without reaching me this week. I've been laid up with a headache, though, which led to missing both calls. The first time, I had the ringer off. The second time, I'd managed to get an appointment for a massage, last minute, and was getting the crap punched out of the lumpy muscles in my back when he called. I will call him if he doesn't try again in a day or so.
  48. Favorite type of fruit pie?
I love fruit pie, almost any kind. Right now I could demolish a strawberry-rhubarb pie, for sure.
  49. Take a vitamin daily?
    I do
  50. What do you wear to bed?
nada, generally--except under circumstances in which the lack of anything would make someone else uncomfortable. I am nothing if not a considerate (and probably overly careful) guest.
  51. First concert?
    Depeche Mode!
  52. Favorite Taylor Swift song?
    "Stay Beautiful"
  53. Ever take dance lessons?
    oh, no
  54. What is your favorite book?
that's just such a ridiculous question. I just now, before starting this, finished a really good book--one of the best I've read in a while: Turn Around Bright Eyes: The Rituals of Love & Karaoke by Rob Sheffield. He wrote Love is a Mix Tape, which is among my favorite of all time. In the current book, Sheffield's fascination with karaoke is revealed to have saved him, in very real ways, from a life that seemed to be lifeless.
I bring this up so I can share this section, which perfectly describes my feelings about Vertical Horizon, brought up in this earlier post.

Every karaoke singer has a vocal doppelganger, and mine is Neil Diamond. When you start singing, you find out whose voice suits yours and who doesn't, and you don't always get to make the decision. A friend of mine has a voice right in the Lionel Richie range, so we always make him do the Commodores songs, even though he was never a big fan before. You follow your voice wherever it leads you, even if it's against your will. (Or against all odds, if it's Phil Collins.) [pp. 223-4]
That's exactly how it was with Vertical Horizon. I kind of liked their music, but once I started singing it, it was as if I HAD to sing it.
  55. Do you study better with or without music?
without. Lying about that was such a waste of time!
  56. Ever been in love?
    once or twice
  57. Who would you like to see in concert?
    Alkaline Trio!
  58. Hot tea or cold tea?
    hot
  59. Tea or coffee?
    tea, usually
  60. Favorite type of cookie?
    chocolate chip
  61. Can you swim well?
meh. I can keep myself from drowning, probably
  62. Can you hold your breath without holding your nose?
under general circumstances, or under water?
  63. Are you patient?
depends. Sometimes I'm the most patient person you can imagine. Other times...beware the fury of a patient man, as John Dryden wrote.
  64. Ever have plastic surgery?
that's an interesting question. I wonder what the circumstances would have to be?
  65. Which are better black or green olives?
green are the only olives for me
  66. Opinions on sex before marriage?
    I have lots of them
  67. Best room for a fireplace?
not a fireplace fan. Fire is an outdoors toy.
  68. Do you want to get married?
    depends who's asking.

  1. "Hermits, unite! (Theoretically.)" New blog title?

I adore the chicken-crossing-the-road link. Thank you!!

And I see you 'cheated' and omitted (the stupider) questions... ;-)

  2. Hermits Unite might make an excellent social network--for introverts. ;)

It did appear that loads of the questions in the original had been done before, and that I'd answered them all quite recently. Since the "Cheetos v. Fritos" debate is hardly keeping anyone up at night, I thought cutting those questions would go unnoticed. Ha!

I love blogging, if only for things like providing a chicken-crossing-the-road link in reply to a sex question and getting a straight-up comment in reply to it!

  3. Remember, remember, that I compare your answers with mine, line by line. ;-)

"Hermits Unite" as the anti-Facebook site-to-come?

WV: "caccomma" I'd forgotten how much I love WV!
