invisible threads are the strongest ties

  1. What have you done lately that gave everyone something to talk about? I won a door prize at the work holiday party last night. There was a strange, unholy ruckus while I walked up to retrieve it, in part because the CEO of the company made a (very funny) joke about my personal habits, to which I was unable to respond.
  2. Do you get along with people who annoy you, disagree with you, dislike you, and hate you? some, yes. I'm sure there are plenty of people who I think are my friends (or something close to it) who really aren't. Life is like that.
  3. When you ask for something, do you make a request or a demand? sometimes one, sometimes the other. Depends on the circumstances. (Some situations are demanding.)
  4. Who are you a bad influence on? let me put it this way: my heart is a bad influence on my head
  5. Who are you a good influence on? one of my friends is in a delicate condition, and she is trying to stay in good health. I'm making a serious effort to be a positive influence on her.
  6. Who was on your Christmas list this year? parents, the bffs, the new coworkers, and a guy
  7. Have you ever intentionally had a one night stand? yep
  8. Do you tend to get car sick? no, but I've probably figured out how to adapt, some
  9. What is the length of your hair? it's a little longer than shoulder length. It's taken almost a year to get back to this length, and I'm NEVER going to cut it that short again. Ever ever ever!
  10. Do you like to listen to techno music? eh. Now and then I'll get in a Depeche Mode or Erasure mood—but not often.
  11. Have you ever dyed your hair an unusual color? not too. I've been required to have a "human hair color" for jobs. The wildest I get is to have the underside of the back dyed something crazy, so that it shows when I tie it up.
  12. What do you find beautiful in an atypical way? so there's this guy...
  13. What would you PHYSICALLY fight someone over? see #12, above
  14. What was the last thing you were invited to? interestingly, a friend invited herself to my house tomorrow night
  15. What do you like? uhm. Bacon sandwiches, a backyard bunny, and rare hugs
  16. Have you ever drank:
    chartruese?
    no, it sounds awful
  17. ...absinthe? people die from that shit
  18. Do you plan your outfits ahead of time, pick them out the morning of, wear whatever was on the floor, or wear what you slept in? depends on the occasion. For work, I lay out an outfit the night before. (It's just easier than trying to think that damned early in the damned morning.) On a regular day, I'll wing it.
  19. How long have you ever gone without changing your...
    sheets?
let's just say, college was not a time of great household hygiene
  20. clothes? I went camping a couple of times, and it's always colder than you think it's gonna be
  21. underwear? probably no longer than 36 hours, and even then I'm a little upset just thinking about it
  22. toothbrush? 6 months, though it's been a very long time since it's gone that long
  23. What item should not be shared? a personal email password
  24. How do you keep control of your temper? shock collar
  25. If you could gain all of your dreams by giving a family member (little brother) to the goblin king who would turn him into a goblin, would you? that mess of wordy gobbledygook probably has some meaning, but I cannot discern it
  26. Do you like to listen to Duran Duran? D2 is awesome
  27. Do you ever feel the need for MORE than life has to offer? at least 130% more
  28. What is your favorite children's story? "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" by Beverly Cleary
  29. Do you think that adult books should have more pictures? no, thank you. My imagination provides.
  30. What was your all-time low? the summer before law school was extraordinarily rough. There was the end of one school, the beginning of another looming, moving from one state (and time zone) to another. Unemployment, underemployment, rising debt, and general financial uncertainty. A major (far more major than anticipated) surgery and subsequent recovery, which was offset by my (as yet undiscovered) allergy to the narcotic pain medication that I was taking several times daily for three weeks. There was the nagging sense (not consciously realized for another few years) that my marriage was in deep trouble. And, on top of all that, there was clinical depression for two members of a four-member household. That summer sucked.
  31. Do you make up songs and sing them to yourself when you're alone? no
  32. Do you like to listen to the Smashing Pumpkins? there is one song by them that I actually like. The rest of it is just noise.
  33. Do you see the expression of emotion as weakness? that would be pretty pathetic of me, considering
  34. Are you prepared in case of chemical, biological and nuclear attacks? nope. I'll be among the first to succumb, I'm sure
[From the 5000-question meme; this is the third third of the twenty-third part. The title quotation is by Friedrich Nietzsche]
