I believe in example, I believe my throat hurts ... I believe My humor's wearing thin and I believe the poles are shifting I believe My shirt is wearing thin and change is what I believe in

  1. What is your favorite tarot deck? there's more than one tarot deck??
  2. How do you feel about file sharing (especially movies and music)? it's not sharing--it's stealing, and beyond that, it's often a ruse for transmitting viruses and the like
  3. How do you feel about Wicca and paganism? *shrug*
  4. Do you believe that people who practice the above religions are able to accomplish magic? I don't know anything about it
  5. If you were given the opportunity to lead a creative writing program for a small group of students in a high school with a low budget in generally poor neighborhood, would you do it? no. There's almost nothing I would be worse at than teaching.
  6. If you could pick anyone who would you want living next door to you? someone quiet and wealthy, with no dogs
  7. If you were a tarot card which one would you be? the fascination with tarot is creepy. I know nothing about this and I'm glad I don't.
  8. Should high school cafeterias stop serving Twinkies and other fatty foods? uhm, I don't think that they do. A few may still have them in snack machines, but most probably don't even do that anymore. The limits on what schools can offer anymore are very strict.
  9. Would you rather that McDonald's took a lot of fat out of their fries even if they wouldn't taste as good? no. I think that fast food is fast food, and pretending that French fries are salad doesn't make them so.
  10. Do you neglect your friends when you have a significant other? an interesting proposition. I suppose, to some extent? But it's relative to the degree that the significant other exists and takes my time--as would family, another friend, work, personal hobbies, and all sorts of other things.
  11. Do you think that an advertisement for a cake decorating set would make good song lyrics? no, song lyrics are very important to me, and something so mundane and foolish as this ought not to be considered
  12. Would a band that used this ad for song lyrics take off or just fizzle out? not even
  13. Are you more practical or imaginative? I have my practical moments (like, at work) but in general I'm probably more the alternative
  14. Can you see beautiful colors without closing your eyes? ...what??
  15. What are the four best songs or bands to listen to while making love? ugh

It's kind of funny, really. A few years ago one of my friends challenged me to make a mix CD called "sex tape", of music of this ilk. It's a very long, really awful mix that I can't stand to listen to for more than a few songs at a time before I have to turn it off, blushing and retching.
  16. What do you believe in? "I believe in coyotes and time as an abstract..."
    [REM "I Believe"]
  17. What band is so romantic that anyone who listens to them must be romantic at heart? Nat King Cole, vintage Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Mathis
  18. Are you a fan of Roxy Music? no
  19. Can you ever say something that hasn't been said or do something that hasn't been done? never
  20. When was the last time you were up all night? a little over a year. It was not worth the bother.
  21. Do you enjoy wasting time? “Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted.”
    [John Lennon]
  22. Have your gods and idols let you down? I don't really think that I have "gods and idols" as such
  23. Is a place in the country your ideal? no
  24. Have you ever developed a photograph? yes, though certainly not well. It is an activity "not within my skill set."
  25. Have you ever courted anyone? yes
  26. Has someone courted you? yeah
  27. What do you waste? bottled water, laundry pretreater, and electricity
  28. Have you ever silk screened a t-shirt? no
  29. Is there anything that you tend to make that most people usually buy rather than make themselves? brownies from scratch, beaded necklaces, and handwritten cards
  30. When was the last time that you were neither going to school or working for a month or more? the summer between sophomore and junior years of high school--I was 16
  31. Is alcohol an excuse you use to be yourself for a while? I don't set out to do it, but it may be an inadvertent side effect sometimes, yeah
  32. What is your light at the end of the tunnel? happiness, I suppose? Success, money, contentment, and happiness.
[From the 5000-question meme; this is the second third of the twenty-fourth part. The title quotation is also from "I Believe," from R.E.M.]
