the one thing the world will never have enough of is the outrageous

  1. Is it true that you...
    ...are politically correct?
I can be inoffensive when I try, but my purpose is not to be "correct"
  2. ...are too nice to say how you feel? I am almost never too nice, in any way
  3. ...don't think the world government affects you? "world government" operates on a level that does not directly affect me, no
  4. ...think that all people who are fat are ugly? it would be sad if I were that self-loathing
  5. ...think all people who are thin are shallow? in a physical sense, it's sort of true?
  6. ...think you are getting solid information from advertisements? not hardly. It's one of the many reasons that I avoid them.
  7. ...don't research the products you use? I think that everyone takes some things for granted, yes
  8. ...believe that the lives of the people you love are somehow more important than the lives of the 6 billion other people in the world? that is part of what love IS
  9. ...believe that the lives of your country men or woman are somehow more valuable than the lives of people from other countries? no
  10. ...believe your ideas are somehow worth more than the ideas of others? sure, some others
  11. ...repress things rather than deal with them? it's healthier sometimes to repress rather than to let everything out and make other people deal with it
  12. ...mindlessly self indulge? no, if I'm indulging it's rarely mindless
  13. ...think there is only one right way? no, that is never true
  14. ...think that this one right way could possibly be right for all of the 6 billion people on this planet? uhh, no
  15. Decide something is untrue just because you don't agree with it or you don't like it? no, "true" is a factual determination, while "agree" or "like" are qualitative
  16. Would you be likely to continue reading a book that began: 'It was a bright, defrosted, pussy-willow day at the onset of Spring, and the newlyweds were driving cross-country in a large roast turkey.'? no, that's dreadful
  17. What came first, the acorn or the tree? from a Biblical perspective, it was probably the tree
  18. What is surrealism? an attempt to express the unconscious mind
  19. If you were putting together a surrealist work of art, what would you do? that's not a question that one can accurately answer, as if it is an easily-definable thing
  20. What did you do on Halloween? I think I went shopping for house-renovation stuff, and bought a winter coat
  21. Some bees have made a comfortable nest for the winter inside your air conditioner. How would you remove the air conditioner from the window? the city where I live is very organic and hipster, so it wouldn't be tough at all to find someone who could help out with the bees
  22. Why is quiet contemplation important? it can be awfully hard to hear yourself think when there's too much going on, outside
  23. Do you spend lots of time in quiet contemplation? How about any time? If not, what distracts you? probably too much time, sometimes. Last night, someone who loves me realized and admitted, "Social interaction is work for you."
  24. What is the lowest you have ever felt? there are lots of lows. Lots of lows. When in them, each seems lower than anything else.
  25. Who has changed your life dramatically for the better? Chris. The D's. The karaoke singer (super dramatically).
  26. Is all your Christmas shopping done? uhm, no. Not in April.
  27. Who is the greatest writer you can think of and why? I'm really into Galway Kinnell lately
  28. Are people either good or evil? no, I think that we're all a combination--more or less
  29. Can people be both good and evil? of course.
  30. Is there good in a rapist or a murderer? Is there evil in Mother Theresa? people are people
  31. Are you satisfied? no, satisfaction arrives probably 3 steps before death
  32. How fast do you drive? 5-10 miles over the speed limit, depending on the location and traffic
  33. What do you want that you don't need? brown shoes
  34. What do you have that you wish you didn't? mortgage payments, a job that begins at X o'clock in the morning, and complications
  35. What does it mean when someone suggests that you don't own your possessions, they own you? because the more you own, the less freedom you have to just pick up and leave. If you have to make arrangements for packing and moving (and can't just stuff it in your car and go), then you're tied down.
  36. Where do you get motivation? inside
  37. Did you ever wanna get with one of your teachers? "get with" is really crass--but yes, I was interested in someone I took a class from, once
  38. Did you ever actually get with one? not like that, no
  39. Have you ever had this happen, where one day you completely believe one thing and the next day you don't believe it anymore? of course. I think that everyone lives in illusion at times, and then has the unfortunate and painful adjustment to sort out when reality sets in.
  40. If yes, do you lie about your change of beliefs in order to appear consistent? what would be the point of that?
  41. Do you hide things about yourself from others? If so, why? naturally - because some things within me are no one else's business. Or maybe they're only for one other person.
  42. Is it because you are afraid they will be scared? Or because you are scared? "scared" is not the word that I would use...
  43. Do you recognize that some part of you is evil or do you feel like you are all good? I'm also not real hip on the word "evil." I think that absolutes like that are pointless. So, yeah, some part of me is negative and other parts are positive. The ratio changes over time. Some people may see me as entirely bad, while others would have a hard time recognizing that there's any variation there at all. I'll never be blameless, spotless, or holy. I'll also never be the worst person in existence.
  44. Is a foot massage meaningless or does it have implications? in the last month or so, since I caught the flu and have been suffering through various associated illnesses (the latest of which being a sinus infection, diagnosed last Thursday), I've had a hard time concentrating. Watching regular movies or reading anything but poetry has almost been a lost cause. Instead, I've distracted myself with Whose Line Is It Anyway? clip shows and a channel called "Soul Pancake" on YouTube. One of the first Soul Pancake videos that I watched was about the effect of foot massage in communication. Check it out:
  45. Are you sick of technology yet? at times, definitely. Sometimes I have to shut off FB and stop habitually answering text messages for a few days at a time, to stop feeling like other people have taken control of my time and life.
  46. After tattoos and piercings, I believe the next big thing will be implants (horns, metal plates, etc) and after that will come genetic alteration (wings, purple skin, etc). Would you have any of this done to you? Would you let your kids have it done? What do you think the next big thing in body modification would be? that's extremely stupid
  47. What's the most insulting thing you could come up with to say to someone? uh, I guess if I were sincerely motivated to insult someone, I would try to make it personal
[From the 5000-question meme; this is the second half of the thirty-second part (questions 3051-3100). The title quotation is by Salvador DalĂ.]
