luxury is the ease of a t-shirt in a very expensive dress

 from "250 conversation starters"

194. What do you think the next big technological advance will be?  if I knew that, I would try to get in on the action. There are a lot of attention-drawing IPOs coming around the bend.

195. What technology from a science fiction movie would you most like to have?  phasers that stun. That would make an excellent cell phone app!

198. Can you think of any technology that has only made the world worse? How about a piece of technology that has only made the world better?  worse: leaf blowers  better: jukeboxes

The Shirt
199. What is your favorite shirt?  a navy blue extended-cuff dress shirt that is about fifteen pounds too snug. To wear that shirt again would be ... extremely rewarding. (Yes, I do realize that it is quite wrinkled.)

200. Does fashion help society in any way?  well, yes, I suppose it does, though I have never thought of it that way. Fashion is sort of an art and as such allows creativity, individuality, and expression, particularly for those of us who cannot afford to take part in the decorative arts.

201. What old trend is coming back these days?  necking and petting

202. What is a fashion trend that you are really glad went away?  men in skinny jeans is not much of a thing around where I live anymore- thank God. There is not a straight man alive who looks good in skinny pants.

203. What is the most comfortable piece of clothing you own?  an old, slouchy pair of jeans that haven't really fit in a couple of years. The button fell off a while ago and I sewed it back on but it's hanging by a thread again. The rear is pretty threadbare and the cuffs are scruffy and ragged. I still wear them once every couple of weeks though, generally just to the convenience store

Norwegian tassel cap204. What is the most embarrassing piece of clothing you own?  what, like I'm going to photograph myself in it for all the internet to see?! My snow-shoveling ensemble (green fleece-lined jacket, red Norwegian cap with tassel) is none too stylish but it gets the job done.

205. Do clothes change how the opposite sex views a person?  of course it does. It even affects how the same gender views a person, since it's not sexual or gender-based but individual.

206. Do you care about fashion? What style of clothes do you usually wear?  not about fashion per se; I don't watch the fashion shows or read the 8-pound magazines or watch the awards shows to see who's wearing whom. However, though I don't buy new clothes habitually, I like to look like I've a clue what's happening in the rest of the world and so not to be hopelessly "out." If my wardrobe has an overall style it could probably be described as ...preppy? -ish?

207. If you didn't care at all what people thought of you, what clothes would you wear?  I rarely dress to please anyone else except to retain employment. At home it's workout gear, shorts or jeans, and t-shirts. Anywhere else, it's the above or a more interesting shirt. Given the opportunity, I love do wearing skirts and dresses now and then.

Kenneth Cole navy blue suede 'Candice' slides
208. What is the best pair of shoes you have ever owned? Why were they so good?  having gone a little crazy over my beloved Adidas wrestling shoes on this venue already, I shall take this opportunity to share a different shoe love: my Kenneth Cole navy blue 'Violet' slide sandals. Low (1/2 inch) heel, suede upper and footbed, floppy bow. Comfortable, sophisticated and adorable. And I got them on sale!

210. What personal goals do you have?  writing some essays, losing a stubborn bit of weight, and cleaning out the basement

212. How have your goals changed over your life?  my goal in high school was to get into college, and maybe through it. And to have a good marriage. Fancy goals, even hypothetical ones. Since then, I've shifted more into practical goals.

213. How much do you plan for the future?  someone whose advice I trust has convinced me to start documenting some goals, using a 3-part process. First, I will list everything I want to accomplish, brainstorm-style. Next (after a day or two), I will add to each of those items the various tasks that need to be done in order to accomplish the items. After a week or so of that, I will fine-tune the list with the individual steps that must be taken to get through those tasks. By that time, it should be pretty clear which goals are worth the commitment and which will be left by the wayside.
