the beet was Rasputin's favorite vegetable. You could see it in his eyes

26. If you could live in any biome (and survive) which biome would you live in?
what the fuck does that even mean?
27. How do you like being roused in the morning?
  schmoopily
cleaning never ends
28. How was your day? What did you do?
I've had sneezes and sniffles the last couple of days, so I've been taking it easy to start the new year. I rearranged the living room to get the couch facing the TV again, rather than the window. Folded and put away laundry. Considered alternate options for the stuff that's stored under the guest bed, since I'm selling the guest bed. Took a hot bath. Watered and trimmed the plants. Balanced the checking account. Cleaned the vacuum (a process I loathe). Boiled eggs, cut up carrots, and portioned snacks for the upcoming week. Watched several movies. Repaired the light in the vent hood.
29. What did your last text message say?
"You may end up toward the lower end of the ladder, my friend. There will be lots of royal litterboxes."
30. Do you respond to texts quickly?
Yup - my phone is generally wherever I am, and I don't put off what I can deal with at once
31. Who was the last person you called?

33. If you were famous, what do you think you would be famous for?
maybe compiling an anthology of poetry
34. Winter or summer?
summer, if only because it is less often gray
35. What is a quality that all people should have?
if all people have anything, then it becomes less wonderful. Individuals, by nature, ought to be unique.
36. If you could have a large collection of one item, what would that item be?
$20 bills with non-sequential serial numbers
38. What is the secret to a happy life?
stop trying to figure out the secret or the happiness or the how-to, and just live

44. Most beautiful thing you've ever seen (in real life)?
well, I've never seen a waterfall, so this is subject to change....

45. Spicy food: Like or dislike?
dislike generally with some specific exceptions like salsa, or Chinese food when I'm coming off a cold
46. Scary movies: Like or dislike?
scary is all right, but horror or gross is unwelcome. I'm too suggestible for nightmares to watch anything that's too rough, alone.
47. Do you like to travel?
I love to travel, and believe that I'm pretty good at it.
In the car: I can be shit at interpreting maps into words when I'm nervous, but I'm terrific at changing the music, handing off food/drinks, knowing when to STFU or how to be interactive when that's needed for alertness—and I never squeal or flinch from traffic.
On a plane I'm easy as pie: settle into my seat, buckle up, get comfy, pop in my earplugs, and sleep until we arrive.
    I adore trains.
Buses are a necessary evil. They tend to smell odd. I consider them more of an airport-to-parking conveyance than anything else.
Boats are not my favorite thing in the world but (knock on wood) I've never been sick on one.
48. Any regrets?
   yes, very much so
49. Do you like rain?
