but it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice

12. Do you ever risk eating dodgy-smelling food that you’re not 100% sure about?
if it won't pass the smell test, I won't eat it. However (within reason) I'm a firm believer in the 5-second rule.
13. What’s the most impressive event you’ve ever attended?
a wedding in Tupelo, Mississippi. The groom was a colleague of my then-spouse. The bride was a daughter of the South, in all of the ways. Big hair, big spender, big daddy with a very big wallet. The wedding took place in the largest venue in town, which happened to be the Baptist church that the bride's family attended. The reception was at one of their houses. The groom's cake was shaped like, and decorated as, all of his favorite books. (He was a professor.) The bride's cake was the classic "wedding cake" style, multiple layers and enormous, with smaller replicas all around. In the back yard were several huge tents with various cuisines within. I specifically recall a mound of fresh strawberries that would have filled my bathtub (or more), and a station providing crawfish and ... accoutrements ... with which they are typically eaten. The music was provided by a dozen-piece jazz band, playing in one of the larger tents with one of the many open bars. We overheard the bride's dad chatting with a friend near the corral. (Paddock? Equine confinement facility? Whatever.) The friend asked if this (the dozen or two inside the fence) was all of their current horses, and her dad replied, "I think so?" I recall thinking that if one is unaware of the depth of one's horsey team, one lives in a different world from me. As we left, I surreptitiously snapped photos of the topiary flanking the front door. It was a wholly impressive event - albeit not one I would choose to experience again. Too much for me to deal with.
14. Which meal is the most important one?
    the one I'm currently eating
15. Do you prefer to watch a movie alone or with other people?
alone or with one of only a handful of other people. Movies are ... important.
16. Do you ever participate in the local cultural stuff your city has to offer?
"local cultural stuff" and "city" are relative terms
17. Do you care about updating your phone to a new model often?
ahhhh, no. I just got a new phone because my old battery wouldn't hold a charge, and went up 5 of the possible 7 newer models. Having the newest thing doesn't matter to me.
18. What’s your favorite decade of movies?
impossible to say. When I really get in the mode, I watch a lot of movies.
19. What hobbies are you interested in trying out?
    relaxing
20. Would you rather get $10 million today, or in monthly payments spread out across your lifetime?
today, please. I can invest it better than "they" can, and I have reason to wish to make some large gifts.
21. What’s the first thing you would look at if you were choosing an apartment to rent?
verification of my incapacity - because I would have to be insane to go back to apartment living at this point in my life
22. What would be your dream car?
    1969 MG Midget, forest green
23. What do you think about old black & white movies?
they are awesome! Great moviemaking back then. Real stories, extensive dialog, charismatic actors who were dedicated to the craft, and some of the better cinematography.
