things we admire in men: kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling

What was your biggest fear as a child?  dogs. The short version of the story is that when I was six or so, I was "attacked" by a neighbor's German Shepherd. The longer version involves new puppies, bad pet-owners, fearful parents, being helped by my sister (and if you know me at all, you know that was a notable exception to the rule), and half a lifetime of accommodation to fear.
What do you admire most about your parents?  they make good partners. One handles the financial and practical details, the other is in charge of execution of their ideas. One is the heart, the other is the mind.
When was the first time you said “I love you” to someone in your life other than family?  pretty sure I was a junior in high school. I was not wrong about the person or the affection, but I was wrong about the degree. I loved what we were feeling, but what we were feeling was not love.
Do you believe in true love or love at first sight?  yes.
If you were on a dating game show, what questions would you ask?  "are you uncomfortable with receiving, or expressing, affection?"
When, if ever, is it okay to break the law?  that is a question that each person must answer for herself at some point, I think? My tolerance for gray areas of life does not conform to the "law" or "morals" or "perspective" of most people.
How have your values changed from ten years ago?  ten years ago I was living in a rented condo, working at the library, spending a lot but also saving more than ever before. Lots of friends and some dating but no one serious. Starting to figure out that I wanted to move away but not yet sure of how to do it. My values were temporary happiness and socking away cash for "someday."
If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would it be?  other than generally being more healthy and fit, I'd love for my face to appear younger
Do you find praise or criticism to be more motivating?  praise, by far. Criticism is necessary and can be helpful, but praise is inspiring and enduring.
What is your biggest regret?  never learning how to hold back tears
What is/was your longest lasting friendship and how did it last so long?  I met Jennifer in kindergarten. In that case, I think it lasted so long because we haven't been close friends all this time. Christmas and birthday cards, the occasional call, texts, FB messages, etc. Every few years, lunch or shopping. Love her.
What do you look for in a significant other?  I don't look for a significant other. Too much goddamn drama.
What is your ideal wedding ceremony?  eyes can't comfortably roll as hard or far as mine are right now
Would you rather spend a week in New York City or Los Angeles?  NYC. I've been to L.A. and found it a fascinating different world, like visiting a far-off but sunny planet. I am far too corn-fed and provincial for that shit. I haven't been to NYC yet, and would love to see it someday, with someone who has been there before and is confident exploring.
After a horrible day, would you prefer a nice dinner out or a cozy movie night?  cozy, definitely
What was the worst nightmare of your life?  Chris' death
If you had the power to correct one problem in the world, what would you fix?  cold feet (note this would not be my answer during the summer)
If you could eat anything you wanted right now, what would you order?  bacon & eggs & toast, and tea
