the triple is the most exciting play in baseball

What first tells you that Summer is here? the predominance of robins
Name your five of your favorite distinctively Summer habits or customs: ice cream, sleeping with the fan on, fresh seasonal fruits and veggies, flowering outdoor plants, and driving with the windows down
What is your favorite smell of Summer? line-dried sheets
What is your favorite taste of Summer? fresh peach
Favorite Summer memory? at the moment, I'm thinking about driving to the 8th largest city in the state to the east, for a training day. The weather was beautiful, I was by myself, and it was an exploration of a place I'd never been.
Extreme heat or extreme cold? Which would you choose and why? this state gets both, and I'm increasingly intolerant of either. Case in point: it's blue-sky sunny today but way too cold to open the windows, and my feet are freezing.
What books do you plan to read for the season? I'm not a "beach read" person, and I rarely plan ahead what I'm going to read (except right now when it's all poetry all the time).
What is your favorite part of summer? dozing in the sun
What's your favorite quintessentially summer food? grilled burgers with corn on the cob
Best beverage to beat the summer heat: cold beer
Least favorite/most annoying thing related to summer? mosquitoes
Pick one: the lake /the beach: lake
Most amusing summer vacation trip you've ever taken?  a long-past boyfriend and I went to a campground a couple of times. They had a chlorine pool and also a sort of lake, complete with seaweed and frighteningly large fish. We only ever went when it was so damned hot that it was packed with people, so we'd just submerge to our necks and enjoy the cool...until we got out and realized we'd washed off our sunscreen (if we'd applied any in the first place) and were both burnt to lobster status. I used a great deal of Noxema that summer!
If you could go anywhere on summer vacation where would you go? it's the journey, not the destination—with the right company
Your absolute dream summer afternoon would be...  planting flowers outside, taking a nap after a cool shower, eating something picnicish, and watching baseball.
