the crowning fortune of a man is to be born to some pursuit which finds him employment and happiness, whether it be to make baskets, or broadswords, or canals, or statues, or songs

Currently waiting on something/someone?
I'm waiting for a prescription to be filled. Not really looking forward to braving Walmart to get it, but my usual pharmacy charges three times more than Walmart for this item. That's worth the extra trip!
What was the last thing you watched on television?
the newest episode of Leverage: Redemption, which airs on Wednesdays on FreeVee (via Amazon Prime)
Do you have "a calling" in life, or know someone else who does?
I don't, but I know someone who does. He wouldn't say so, and might not even think so. But he's brilliant at his profession, and knows all sorts of things surrounding it. I'm envious of his love for what he does - not as much the job itself as much as the greater purpose behind it, why he does it and why he's good at it - and also for the insatiable thirst for knowledge and creative problem-solving skills he's developed because of it.
How old will you be in 12 months?
"another year older, and a new one just begun"
Do you sleep naked?
    only when I'm by myself
Have you ever held hands with someone in a car?
this made me laugh. Yes, I have held hands with someone in a car!
Could you go the rest of your life without smoking a cigarette?
    sure could
What do you say during awkward silences?
"So, how 'bout that sports team?" If you can, try to make it more awkward. That always helps!
What is something that you do, that you don't notice a lot of other people doing?
I rarely turn on lights. I have always been content with being in the dark, and it's probably become more ingrained the older I get. It is a function of migraine prevention - bright lights are the devil to my brain - or aesthetic preference.
When will you next see the last person you texted?
    on Saturday, for (early) breakfast
When is the last time you have been to Texas?
2009, I think? I went to Dallas to spend a weekend with a guy I'd met online. Just writing this makes me laugh, thinking about how easily that could have gone sideways! It turned out fine, and we're still friends.
Texas, though, doesn't do much for me. I would go back, given the opportunity, but it's not on my top 5 list. I would like to see San Antonio and Galveston someday.
What would your best friend be surprised to know about you?
my BFF knows all about me and still likes me. If there's a surprise there, it's that I've been so lucky and blessed in this friendship.
If you had to mind-meld with someone, who would you choose?
there's a guy who has, for most of my life, been interested in one thing where I'm concerned. Though I have only been involved with him a couple of times - once during college and again since I moved back here - he has remained constant in his interest, if not quite 'affection'. I would really, really like to see what he sees in me. That would be incredibly good for my ego, especially now.
