A wander through some unfamiliar neighborhoods, so to speak. A good movie takes you someplace you've never been.
Love, Actually (2003) - "Nine intertwined stories examine the complexities of the one emotion
that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David
(Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who
falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura
Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother
complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man
tempted by his attractive new secretary."

notable quote: "A friend who bullies us is no longer a friend. And since bullies only
respond to strength, from now onward I will be prepared to be much
stronger."
MPAA rating: R
directed by: Richard Curtis
my notes: I had forgotten how NOT uniformly happy it is, but liked it so well anyway. I liked Liam Neeson's storyline the best, with Colin Firth's ridiculousness second.

returned home from vacation, private detective Nick Charles (William

(Alan Marshal) missing. As the duo search for the disreputable Robert,

Double Wedding (1937) - "Waldo and Irene have been living with Margit for the four years that
they have been engaged. Margit has planned the wedding and the honeymoon—in fact, Margit plans everything down to what they will have for

Irene does not want to be married to a milquetoast. So she says she is

Irene, Charlie sees that she is the one for him. To make everyone happy,
