occasionally facetious but mostly straight-up

  • Where do you go when you need to just get away? Away. Does it matter? Away is relative. When I'm at work, there's a limit to how far I can go, and for how long. When I'm by myself on the weekends, there's theoretically no limit.
  • Do you believe everything happens for a reason? In a sense, yes. Putting too much weight in this idea leads to magical thinking and wheel-spinning, though.
  • Have you ever thought about moving far away and starting all over? Of course. Where is "away", though, and what happens when I get there?
  • Who is the one person you can always turn to? Depends on why I'm turning. I am conscious (overly conscious?) of over-staying my welcome, though, so I try to avoid turning to the same person for the same thing over and over.
  • Have you ever won a raffle? Yes
  • Have you ever sang in front of a large audience? No (what's the meme obsession with public singing lately?!)
  • Favorite school field trip as a kid? State capitol. It made our little town seem *so* small.
  • Have you ever square danced? Not since elementary school. I don't like to be ordered to be creative in a specific way. (It's too representational....)
  • How far have you traveled up north? I think that Frankenmuth was probably the most northerly point that I've visited. Or maybe the bay city?
  • How far south have you traveled? Miami (woot! woot! woot!)
  • What flavor do you like on your wings? I usually use unflavored lotion on my arms.
  • Who do you wake up for in the morning? Just me.
  • Who is the last person you took a picture with? God knows. Maybe my brother?
  • Do you think that global warming is happening? Of course. This week's weather is proof enough!
  • Have you or would you ever use and Ouija board? When I was little. Pointless.
  • Have you ever pretended you were happy around your friends but weren't? I do a much better job of that than I did at college age. Still, it's a little hard for me to hide things face-to-face; my visage is palpably affected by stress and sadness.
  • Where would you most like to visit? Norman and Miami. Duh?
  • Do you think your ex still likes you? Hard to tell. He's either pining for me or plotting my death.
  • Describe your ex in three words: Childish. Unconscious. Foolish.
  • Have you ever had a pet fish? Yes - I had black mollies during high school, which were named after the minor characters in Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio lived the longest.
  • Have you ever been home sick? Not this week. Or do you mean "homesick"? In that case - hell yeah.
  • Who do you want to win the 2008 presidential election? D
  • Do you know the Soulja Boy dance? No, and once the "secret lyrics" to Crank Dat were revealed - I would never.
    Soulja Boy off
    In this ho
    Watch me crank it
    Watch me roll
Watch me crank dat Soulja Boy
    Then Superman dat ho
  • What is the craziest thing you've done with your best friend?
    1. with college BFF: the world's most perfect pizza.
    2. with The Cat: probably That Meeting (which was not a crazy thing that we did, but it was the craziest thing I've ever experienced in a work setting)
    3. with Fluffy: there were a couple of late-night wandering drives in the middle of nowhere with the gas light on in my car...
  • Who do you think is the most attractive celebrity? Jet Li
  • When is the last time you went to Taco Bell? It's been months. Sounds *really* good right now, though.
  • Have you ever licked a 9-volt battery? No. Why in the hell would anyone do that in the first place?
  • Have you ever ordered from an infomercial? No
  • Is there a message on your voice mail? No
  • Have you ever made a prank call before? Yes, but it's been ages - since grad school!
  • What's your favorite thing to do over the summer? I love taking a really cold shower in the dark and then plopping down on the couch with a good book and a beer.
  • How many jobs do you have? Sort of ostensibly just one.
  • Don't you hate it when people smoke around you? I am sorry to admit to this weakness, but I actually miss that. I have a latent secondhand nicotine addiction, I guess, after 3 years of being around it.
  • When was the saddest time in your life? There have been many, but I think that the summer and fall of 2004 was probably the period in which I hurt the most.
  • What is your favorite type of skiing? When other people do it.
  • Who is your favorite family member and why? Jeez. Um, my brother, prehaps?
  • Do you like Chinese food? LOVE it. There's a place in my hometown, ohmyGod, *so* good.
  • Would you ever be in the Peace Corps? No
  • Do you think you are better then everyone else? At certain things, in a limited-purpose sort of way, sure.
  • Would you ever go on a camping trip without your cell phone? No (but this answer presumes something that I'm not spelling out)
    • ['I', from The Cat]
