I recently spent the better part of a day sifting through my Memory Box. The accumulation of lots of school papers, notes from friends, silly stuff from work, and a pretty big dose of very not-silly stuff.
Today and tomorrow, I'm going to share two of the articles that I pulled from one of the hometown newspapers, more than a decade ago. The editors of the paper, a married couple, were public and direct about their son's suicide. I knew the family by sight, had gone to school with their eldest daughter, and knew the young man as the much-younger brother of a younger classmate. This hit me pretty hard. The articles that I will post today and tomorrow show how much it affected his family.
The articles are not republished by permission, though I think that they would give it. If necessary, I will remove them upon request. For now, though, I think this is something that everybody should read. (Click the image to enlarge.)
