on a motorcycle in a storm with Jane Austen

  1. Chad Knaus = [untranslatable noises of appreciation and desire]
  2. I was just musing, as I work, about how much money I would need to fall from the sky if I were to pay off all my debts today. "Huh; $5100 would do it." "No, make that $7700." "Ooh, but then there's the student loans. Um, about $20,000, then."
    Holy crap. $20,000.
Anyone looking for a handyman? Cleaning lady? Anything??
  3. The exercise plan for tomorrow: walking at 5:30 PM. Current weather.com forecast for tomorrow at 5:30 PM: Scattered T-Storms; 86°F; feels like 93°F; 50% chance of precipitation; dewpoint 72°F; 63% humidity; winds from the SSW at 10 mph. That sounds rather unpleasant. Wonder if I can wrangle a 7:AM date instead?
  4. I am trying to do about 48 things at the same time. So far, not so good. I haven't fucked anything up, but I did find and fix 4 things that I fucked up on Friday. Blargh.
  5. Balanced my checkbook on Saturday! First try! I only needed to reconcile 3 months' worth of debits, checks, transfers and deposits. I am a slacker.
  6. Proof that God hates me and wants me to be unhappy: I took 2 doses of my super wonder drug yesterday, but my migraine persisted. I got out of bed after tossing & turning in a feverish dervish (hee) and took one of my standard wonder drugs. Somewhere overnight, the headache went away.
Guess how I was awakened this morning? Not by my alarm at 6:33. By a motorcycle, revving beneath my bedroom window, at 6:24. Extreme hatred....
  7. I watched Mansfield Park yesterday. I've now seen five Jane Austen adaptations: Emma (both the A&E version and the standard screen version), Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson), Jane Eyre, and now this. I've never read any of Jane Austen's work - I took "English for normal kids" in high school, so we never got that far, and in college I didn't take any lit classes, and only one composition class. She's never terribly interested me as a writer.
Now I kind of understand what she's all about.
She still doesn't interest me as a writer.
