scenes from a trip
The day after I arrived in the ol' hometown, I walked around one of the lakes with my mom and a friend of hers. They walked hardcore while I wandered with the camera and annoyed the locals.
There are several areas around the lake set off in recognition of various groups.
It was a cool day (perhaps 65° at the highest) but there were several others walking or riding the path around the lake - and traveling the lake itself.
The natural monument is showing signs of wear after so many million years, but it still reminds me of home.
This had me perplexed. From a distance it looked like a dolphin, not an anchor.
Quack.
The bike path hugs the lake pretty closely in some places, while in others it is a dozen or more yards away.
"Fall color" hadn't really hit the area yet.
It is difficult to give accurate perspective on the depth of the lakes as compared to the bluffs.
There are spots of color amidst the green.
Even a few vibrant reds.
It was a windy day; in spots where I couldn't get a decent shot, there were whitecaps on the lake!
This dock was built when I was a young child. There are people fishing from it nearly all year.
This is the view to the East from the pike between the lakes.
The other lake.
Many of the houses along the lake are architecturally distinctive.
I've been in this one, which is not nearly so fascinating as I would have expected.
One last look at the Loaf.
This one looks stately and refined, particularly in comparison to the shenanigans that occur near the lake after dark.
