First layer:
1 1/4 cups (8-9) graham crackers, crushed
1/4 cup soft margarine
1/4 cup sugar
Second layer:
8 oz. cream cheese
1 pkg. Dream Whip, prepared
1 cup powdered sugar
Third layer:
1 can cherry pie filling
In a small bowl, mix crumbs, margarine & white sugar and pat in 9x9" pan. In medium bowl, prepare Dream Whip according to package instructions. Set aside (in a smaller bowl). Reuse medium bowl; cream powdered sugar and cream cheese. Add whipped Dream Whip and beat until smooth. Pour over crumb mixture. Top with 1 can pie filling. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry pie filling are good substitutes for the cherry. (Others would probably be fine, too - those are the ones that I've had.) Chocolate pudding is pretty good, too, if you switch out the graham crackers for Oreos or chocolate graham crackers. The crumb layer is pretty dry, but it tastes too good to matter.
This is a very traditional dessert in my family. We have this probably 3-4 times a year, and it's my go-to when I want to make something that looks impressive, tastes ridiculously good, and doesn't over-fill after a larger meal. (I would like to say that this makes something like 16 servings, but I've never had less than 1/9 of it at a time.)
