morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace

  1. Was your dad named after anyone? Not in the family. He was the third boy born in 3 years, after 3 girls born in 3 years. By that point, I think they just threw something at them and if it stuck, it was fine.

  2. What do you think is the minimal age to get married? In this state? 16. In the U.S.? New Hampshire allows 13-year-old females to marry with permission--that's not where I'd have guessed the low point to be.

If the question is, what should be the minimum age for marriage: I've a big problem with drawing arbitrary lines in the sand. That's for better minds than mine. I do think that perhaps we should have greater consistency from state to state, because societal interest in protecting children (and encouraging marriage, for that matter) cannot vary so much depending upon which plot of dirt one calls home.

  3. What’s the longest time that you've been involved with the same person? boy, that's a good question, isn't it? The obvious choice would be my former spouse, given the degree of formality and unprecedented faithfulness there. However, there is someone else, wound in and around (before and since, and somehow in between) there, too: the Shark. So that's, like, more than half a lifetime.

  4. What actor/actress do you consider hot at the moment? Must we? As soon as they're hot, they're just annoying as hell - and then I don't want them showing up as hits on my site stats. Blegh.

  5. What is you favorite album by a band? At the moment, Agony & Irony by Alkaline Trio.

  6. What is your favorite album by an individual artist? Again, just for now: Luke Bryan's I'll Stay Me.

  7. What is something that you‘d rather be a bit dirty? sex, of course

  8. What was the last TV show that you watched? Criminal Minds

  9. How many people have you met from the blogosphere? Who are they? I've met a couple of acquaintances, a couple of friends, a couple of very good friends, and the best person I will ever know. Never would have thought it would be like this.

  10. What's your philosophy on life? "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it." [Oscar Wilde]

  11. Do you think prescription drugs are over-prescribed? Some are, some aren't. I also think drugs are treated with odd disdain by a lot of people who could be greatly helped by them, and with significantly more interest than they've earned by others. I also think that over-prescribed prescription drugs are less harmful, overall, than poor eating and drinking habits and the use of unregulated "supplements."

  12. Would you keep a secret from me if you thought it was in my best interest? Never. That is something that I would Not. Ever. do.

  13. What is your favorite memory in the last year? {think about 'grace'...think about 'grace'...} Doesn't matter now.

  14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure? rum-and-lemonade

  15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you: my 10 tattoos would easily fit in the palm of a (large-sized) grown man's hand

  16. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc.' malarkey) - what are they?
    1. Emerald earrings (princess-cut studs in white gold or platinum)

    2. A new car (something sporty, but not red)

    3. A nap. On a beach. A quiet beach. For a week. Maybe 2 weeks.

  17. Who would you want to get together with and make a cake? There is really only one way to answer this question, and that's with a thousand words.
    pigs1
(The cake says "we are pigs!" in red glaze icing and has 2 forks stabbed into it. The 3 of us ate ~3/4 of it in one sitting. Why? Because we could.)

  18. Where is your spiritual home? Miami - so far. I'm willing to entertain other candidates, though.

  19. What is your big weakness? Probably my left arm.

  20. Do you think the Cat is a good person? Yup. She's like one of those pie charts that's not more than 25% of any one color. She's like intellectual chili. She's very soothing, without one iota of cloying. She's freakin' hilarious. And she's very good company for a person who doesn't like people.

  21. What was your best/favorite subject at school? Through high school, my best subject was science, and my favorite was English. After that, I suppose best and favorite both was History.

  22. Describe your accent: Mini-soda

  23. If you could change anything about yourself, would you? just my IQ

  24. What do you wear to sleep? nada

  25. What is your favorite casual outfit to wear? Interesting timing.... Jeans, black blouse (whichever - I have several), sandals.

  26. Do you use cigarettes or alcohol? I drink, yeah.

  27. Rate the memes that you play generally. Use any scale or just in order. It's really not that serious for me. I only do the ones that strike my fancy, and in no particular order.

  28. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? I'm assuming that this is the Cat asking:
assuming that you were healthy and we were both going to kick the bucket the following day via some sort of worldwide catastrophe, I'd say we'd probably hang around your place, eat like no tomorrow (hee hee), and talk until we couldn't talk no more. We've done it before, I know, but it still sounds like just the thing.
