One of the things I miss about my former spouse is our tendency toward logomachy in everyday conversation. He set the bar high, and no one can match him in many ways.
- Which TV character do you think you are most like?
Frylock from Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1/Aqua Teen Hunger Force - What time do you go to bed?
somewhere between 9:30 and 3:00. I'm not terribly regimented about it. - What was the last meal you made from scratch?
I generally make all of my meals from scratch, if that means not buying them from restaurants or plunking them out of a box to defrost. Tonight, for instance, I had campanelle with homemade fire-roasted garlic and tomato sauce with green peppers and onions. - What is your favorite type of music?
I'll listen to almost anything, and my favorites vary by the day - In what position do you sleep?
not sure - I'm asleep! - What is your first memory?
when I was very little, my dad used to crouch in the shadows in my bedroom when my siblings and I would walk down the (very short) hallway in our ranch house, and when we walked past, he would grab at our ankles and growl. I don't know how old I was, but I would squeal and freak the hell out as if I was being tackled by Frankenstein, the Loch Ness Monster and the Boogey Man, all wrapped into one. It was probably hilarious. I'm sure I played it up a little because all the hysterics usually meant a treat later. - What is your least favorite smell?
fish frying - It's your round at the pub and your friends asked you to surprise them. What drink would you buy and why?
a bleeding brain. They look inordinately cool, they're terribly uncommon, and they feel disastrous going down (but taste fine). - What was the last thing you read/watched that made you cry?
part of The Brothers K. It's a lot rougher on me this time around than it's been before. Not sure what's so different but it's not necessarily a bad thing. - They say that you learn something new every day. What was the last thing you have learned?
today I learned that my fear about annual reviews was misplaced, that the top of my back is much less strong than I'd thought, and that one of my friends thinks I'm a "minx" - Which Literary love interests would you snog, marry and avoid.
- snog: Tommy Pagano, in Anthony Bourdain's Bone on the Throat
- marry: Jonathan Bovaro, in David Cristofano's The Girl She Used to Be
- avoid: Michael, in Jane Leavy's Squeeze Play

- Paperback, Hardback or Kindle/e-reader? Which of these is your favorite reading format and why?
each has its place. For everyday reading, I'm a trade paperback fan. For "permanence", hardcovers are nice. But I do love my Kindle - it's awesome to be able to carry 35 books around, in the space of a small trade paperback. I can honestly say that I cannot imagine my reading life without it anymore. - If you could bring back any canceled TV series for another run what would you pick and why?
with the caveat that all good things must end and that I understand why it did, I adored ReGenesis and would have loved a year or two (or five) more of the exploits and adventures of David Sandstrom, Carlos Serrano, and the rest of the NORBAC lab. - [the original question in this space needed replacement, so use this opportunity to post a video in its place] - [link died]
That drink: HORRIFYING, and not for visual reasons!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a weird question: have you read any of the Nevada Barr books with Anna Pigeon in them?
You're not much of a shot drinker, in my experience. If I were buying for you, I'd go ice-cold vodka, neat - for what that's worth.
DeleteDefinitely a weird question. No, I have not. Why?
Oh... you ARE Frylock!!
ReplyDeleteAnd if there truly were a Golden Book version of "The Professional" it would be on my bookshelf in a place of honor.
Frylock's way more hip than I could ever hope to be (as is Leon, of course) but both are worthy of behavior-modeling, for sure!
