June 11: morganatic
[there have been some really bizarre words in this calendar, but I think this one takes the cake. Why does this word even exist, for real? And why would anyone think that it's such a useful word that it should show up in a word-of-the-day calendar?! I will NEVER find a use for this word in the real world.]
My entire damned face hurts. I had a temporary crown put on just after work this evening; the anesthesia is just barely starting to wear off, and I don't know which was worse. I'm also left debating whether the inside of my mouth feels worse than my jaw (from the four-hands-and-five-instruments strain). In a word, I feel awful.
I'm sure that there was more that I meant to say, but it's lost in the fog of my discontent. OW!
[the title quotation is by Thomas Fuller]
Yuck. Been there--hopefully, Tylenol will help.
ReplyDeleteAs for "morganatic", I had to learn it to understand stuff in--of all subjects--my Spanish lit courses in college. It's come in handy a couple of other times since; perhaps I read too much history?
I read a lot of history, too, but seriously. I guess this is just one of those things that, like "tonsure", is so...pretentiously academic and esoteric, I would NEVER think to utter outside of a classroom.
DeleteOr prehaps when speaking with another history grad. ;)
I thinks, p'raps, we been readin diff'rent hist'ry. I read more about kings/queens/people; you read more about events? (LARGE generalization, not necessarily true)
ReplyDeletehope you are feeling better A...
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's generally better, though there's a rough spot on the temporary crown that's rubbing the inside of my cheek raw. The fun never ends! :/
Delete:/ hopefully the new tooth will take care of all that and you will be back in the pink in no time ;)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you the other day, I started a new lower body routine and my quads, gluts, and hamstrings were so tight it was unbelievable... I was walking around like I just got off my horse ;))
