no one can confidently say that he will still be living tomorrow

July 10: wormhole
Oh, hell yeah: if you locate a wormhole, I'm so outahere!

Anytime life wants to get a little less challenging, I'm all for it.
The past six weeks: haven't been able to do my actual job due to a combination of computer, physical layout (i.e. building), and political problems.
Two weeks ago: paid my dental bill by dividing my emergency fund in half.
A week ago: had to miss a funeral because of a work thing.
Today: paid bills by dividing the rest of my emergency fund in half. Again.
Tomorrow: visitation service for someone I've known almost half my life.
     Thursday: her funeral.
One friend's loved one is in constant pain, facing the end of his life bravely and with remarkable humor.
Another friend is dealing with a potentially terrible (or possibly amazing) life-changing event with fear, of course, and caution, but also grace and spirit.
Another friend is going through something that no one would guess from the outside, which always looks cleaner and clearer than the inside really feels—and proving that strength, self-respect, and forgiveness are not mutually exclusive.
Another friend is challenged by a long-distance relationship but responding with trust and honesty, rather than pessimism. What a novelty!
And I'm just hoping for everything to calm the Hell down so I can go back to being invisible.

[the title quotation is by Euripides]

  1. You, my dear, are never invisible to me! I respect your need for solitude and introspection but you and your love and support are vital to me and my well-being. Plus, you always help me find the humorous side of even the worst situations. Invisible, never! Loved, always!

  2. My friend (and I call you that proudly), I am certain that every soul you touch can say with certainty that your kindness, strength and grace have supported them. You may sometimes not feel kind, strong or graceful, but I assure you, when the need arises, you possess them in abundance.
