any darn fool can make something complex; it takes a genius to make something simple

quiddity
The quiddity of a soul can sometimes be revealed in what the body wears to bed--and the individual's willingness to discuss it.
balletomane
Though I admire graceful movement, it would certainly be putting too fine a point on it to call me a balletomane; longer works make me snore like a philistine.
megillah
Is it appropriate to refer to a partial megillah?
beau geste
My only introduction to the concept of beau geste came--as, I'd imagine, for many children of my era--from the Peanuts comic strip sequence where Snoopy is a member of the Legionnaires.
intestate
Dying intestate is a much bigger deal these days, now that funeral (and burial, if appropriate) costs are astronomical.

  1. How often do you actually smile for pictures?
pretty much as often as I'll willingly pose for them. It doesn't happen often.
  2. What is so embarrassing about the most embarrassing photo ever taken of you?
there are plenty of unflattering photos of me, but I'm not sure that there are any "embarrassing" ones--at least not that I'd claim. The fact that they exist at all means that they served a purpose at some point.
  3. If you could only read one single magazine for the rest of your life, which magazine would you most likely choose?
Bookmarks--since it's led me to more books that I want to read than any other magazine I've found, and I even like the articles, too
  4. How often do you visit a brick-and-mortar local library?
uh, let's call it 'several times each week'
  5. When borrowing books or renting movies, what percentage of the time do you incur a late charge?
    approximately never
  6. What’s something you do on Saturday that you generally don’t do any other day of the week?
I very, very, very rarely leave the house on Saturdays. There are a variety of things that I'll do while I'm here, but the prevailing theme seems to be that I don't go out or do anything at all away from home. A Free Day, if you will.

[from The Cat, who got it here; the title quotation is by Woodrow Wilson Guthrie]

  1. That library question made my jaw hit the floor. lol

You can use megillah any way you want--I dint' realize the original meaning was scriptural.

    1. I suppose if we took the word 'visit' literally, we could answer it more easily. I was just thinking that an unscheduled stop at the local one would be a good idea today, even.
