any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid

  1. What has caused you to reinvent yourself or reevaluate who you are? that's happened a few times, for different reasons. September 11 was a big one. The end of the marriage. Various breakups. Ending a job and starting another. Losing a friend.
  2. Name three annoying bands: no, thank you. I try not to draw attention to specific annoying entities on the blog, and also not to insult my friends' and other readers' tastes.
  3. Have you ever been to a foam party (a big dance floor full of soap foam that people dance in at a club)? If yes did you get into the foam? no, the night life around here does not involve foam parties. I'm laughing a little bit to imagine it...
  4. Who do you take for granted? my parents, my best friends (badly), and a few people at work
  5. Who makes you feel taken for granted? so, there's this guy...
  6. Short, knee, or ankle skirts? on me? Knee or slightly shorter. "Short" is too short and hits me at the wrong spot. Ankle makes me look like I'm wearing a barrel, all hips and no shape.
  7. Do you wear a hat? in the winter, I will wear a hat when it's particularly cold or snowy. I don't love them.
  8. Did you watch Sifl and Ollie on MTV? uh, no. That show debuted when I was in law school--I had other things to do at the time.
  9. How about Liquid Television? I think I may have seen snips of it? The art looks familiar.
  10. The Maxx? no
  11. What do you like that is NOT part of pop culture? what a strangely worded question. I think it would be easier to say that I don't do much for the sake of its pop culture value. The movies that I watch, the music to which I listen, the books that I read, the hobbies that I enjoy, the sports teams that I follow (with the exception of MLB, though I was a long-suffering fan long before anything happened to change matters!)--none of that is about what's popular, but simply what I like to do.
  12. What music makes you feel...
    Sexy?
there are a whole lot of mix CDs that are devoted to this exact question. I think some of Shaggy's music is pretty damned sexy.
  13. Passionate? Incubus
  14. Violent? Chevelle
  15. Romantic? Dashboard Confessional
  16. Sad? Dave Matthews Band
  17. Happy/joyous? Sister Hazel
  18. Ecstasy? R.E.M.
  19. Who's your favorite cartoon character? Bill the Cat
  20. Does break dancing impress you? I suppose?
  21. Are you a smooth operator? I have my moments
  22. Would you rather be a police officer or a criminal? criminal
  23. Do you believe that government decisions should be made based more on economics or more on social reform? yes
  24. Why do 'they' spend money to sterilize needles that are going to be used to give lethal injections? it's not a question of economics, but of cruel and unusual punishment--and of spending a little to save a lot in case something goes wrong. Read up.
  25. This summer have you...
    Been to the beach?
answering all of these from 2016: no
  26. been to the movies? no (though I did go over the winter)
  27. Played mini golf? no
  28. Gone for a walk? yes
  29. Would you rather lay in bed all night talking or have sex all night long? neither of them seems likely for certain practical reasons. In truth, I'd probably go for the former rather than the latter. But I'm certainly not casting aspersions on either option.
  30. Have you ever eaten tofu? I have. Not a fan.
  31. Who needs a brain? Scarecrow
  32. Who needs a heart? the Tin Woodsman
  33. Does the moon have an affect on your mood? not per se. It can be better or worse depending on the ability to see at night, that sort of thing.
  34. Do you feel pressure on Friday and Saturday to have fun, go out and party? not for a very long time
  35. Many people will say that the 'Harry Potter' books are pure fluff with no literary value. Do you agree? just because I'd rather read porn than HP doesn't mean that someone else won't get a lot out of them. More power to ya.
  36. Is 'Harry Potter' comparable to The Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings? in the sense that each is a series of books ostensibly written for children that has wider appeal to adults--sure
  37. What are you doing next Wednesday? probably dinner with the parents, and prehaps a long phone call
[From the 5000-question meme; this is the first quarter of the eleventh part. The title quotation is by Hedy Lamarr.]
