Will you hold me sacred Will you hold me tight Will you colorize my life

  1. Do you think that Britney Spears would make a good Bond Girl? oh, Hell yes! That would be terrific. I'm not sold on the current Bond guy, but if they managed to get a new one in place I'd love to see this.
  2. Have you read anything by C.S. Lewis? nope. I've got one of his books on my to-read shelf, though: A Grief Observed. I should crack that one soon.
  3. What is your favorite movie with Bill Murray? The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
  4. What is your favorite movie with Jack Nicholson? it's a tie between Five Easy Pieces and The Departed
  5. What is your favorite movie with Christopher Walken? it's a tie between True Romance and The Rundown
  6. What is your favorite movie with Johnny Depp? Once Upon a Time in Mexico
  7. What is your favorite movie with Orlando Bloom? I've never seen one of his movies. Strange...
  8. What rhymes with 'orange'? only this
  9. Why do guys have nipples if they will never need to feed a baby? just for fun?
  10. Some people think that couples should be screened before they are allowed to reproduce (so that people who cannot afford to support a child don’t have one, or so that a child won’t be born into a dysfunction family or to unfit parents). What do you think about this? not a big issue for me at this point. I mean, granted, the future of the world is a big deal, but at the moment I have bigger personal concerns.
  11. Have you ever swallowed an object by accident? Did you get it back? uhm, no
  12. Do you prefer He-Man or She-Ra? I'm really more the He-Man type
  13. Are you proud of yourself? sometimes, yes. It's getting better/easier.
  14. Who should go to Hell? bitchweasels and others who are paid too much to do too little, anyone who treats the innocent with violence or contempt, and the NE Patriots
  15. Is your eyesight 20/20? not even with correction, anymore
  16. Have you ever had insomnia? that's funny.
  17. Does it bother you when people touch you? people in general--very much. Certain specific people whom I care about? There's nothing better.
  18. Is it better to get too much or too little sleep? no, neither one is a good thing. I'm suffering that out right now.
  19. Have you ever given away something you made? What? I recently made a pair of earrings, bracelet, and necklace as a sort of peace offering/favor. It's a little quirky, dramatic, fun, and seems to have been well received.
  20. Is it better to have kids when you are in your teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, or older? that completely depends on the parents--but I would hazard a guess that "in your teens" would NEVER, EVER be the answer. My guess is that, all else being equal, my 30s would have been the right time.
  21. What gets your adrenaline pumping? the right kind of working
  22. Is Hell all fire and brimstone or is it personal for everyone like in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey? having not seen that film ...
I think it's likely less literal than Dante, and less personalized than the above reference. Should such a "place" exist in any real sense.
  23. Or does it not exist? there's no way of knowing that until one is "not only merely dead, [but] really, most sincerely dead!" [ref]--and, as such unable (or unwilling) to confirm.
  24. Do you ever talk about yourself in the third person? indeed, We do, when We are so inclined
  25. What's your favorite radio station? What kind of music do they play? ugh. No radio for me, except streaming WGN for Cubs games.
  26. What did you think of these movies:
    Election?
I didn't love it. Not sure why, since the novel was written by one of my favorite authors (Tom Perrotta) and the film stars a couple of actors that I enjoy.
  27. Gone With the Wind? haven't seen it
  28. Fight Club? LOVED it. It was disgusting, but I loved it.
  29. Spider Man? haven't seen it
  30. The Virgin Suicides? haven't seen it
  31. Resident Evil? I think I've seen it, but I don't remember it well enough to comment on. It's been a while and didn't make an impression.
  32. Signs? haven't seen it
  33. Muppets from Space? haven't seen it
  34. Pearl Harbor? haven't seen it. I generally avoid Hollywood historicals.
  35. Halloween Resurrection? FEH. I haven't seen it.
  36. The Dark Crystal? haven't seen it. I knew some guys in college who would get stoned and watch it over and over, though..
  37. Is everyone special? yup, that's what makes us each unique! {insert eye roll here}
  38. Are your toes:
    Painted (what color)?
yes, they're a base coat of greenish gray with an overlay of multicolored glitter
  39. Manicured? only in the sense that they always are
  40. Sparkly? yup, glittered
  41. Soft? yes
  42. Wearing a toe ring? two on one toe
  43. Do you have hobbit-feet? eeew, no
  44. Do you believe there is anyplace still undiscovered in all the world? "undiscovered" is a strange term to apply. I believe that there are literally inaccessible places on the planet, deep on the ocean floor or within the mountains, for instance. As millennia pass, some of these will become "discovered," while others that we know now will shift into inaccessibility. If we're lucky, and have a planet for millennia to come.
  45. Whose picture would you like to paint a target on and throw darts at? that question made my brain hurt
  46. Is love all you need? no, there's also bacon
  47. Ever caught a fish? yup, but I threw him back
  48. Are you adventurous? every now and then. More so over time.
  49. Are you afraid of mediocrity? not "afraid of" so much as "repelled by"
  50. Would you rather die tomorrow or have all your friends die? yes
  51. What are 3 things you don't understand? International Shoe, why you can flip up a rear view mirror and it still works, and universal donors
  52. I would do anything for love but I won't do 'that'. What is 'that'?
    • forget the way you feel right now (oh no, no way)
    • forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
    • do it better than I do it with you
    • stop dreaming of you every night of my life
  53. Has your diary ever been rated? not in any official sense
  54. Do you do more than kiss on the first date? date me and find out, why don't you?
  55. Are you very liberal or conservative? not "very"
  56. What do you like about your neighbors? one of them is very kind, one is cute, and one is funny
  57. I read that by 2010 they expect to market a gene therapy procedure that will increase the life spans of adult human beings by double or triple. If this happened would you have it done? ugh no. Life is wasted on the young, not the elderly. Why increase OLD age by three times? My knees already feel like I've had them for too long.
  58. If you're happy and you know it clap your hands. Did you clap? I'm not a big clapper under any circumstances, but particularly when told to do so.
  59. Was this year a good year for you? it's looking up
  60. What are you looking forward to next year? uh, hmm. No idea.
  61. Are you a Jim Henson fan? he was really good at what he did
  62. Were you ever in the first row of a concert? not as an adult
  63. Did you ever meet a celebrity? Who? I've met some athletes, and some minor musical performers. And I used to know someone who is huge in his (admittedly rather obscure) financial field.
  64. Do you have any autographs? I have a few signed books and one legit autograph from an athlete
  65. Can you visualize whirled peas? it's impossible not to, now
  66. Are there some situations where love just isn't enough to keep 2 people together? When does that happen? I think I might be living it
  67. Do you have no attention span? I have the opposite problem: once my brain attaches to something, it's hard for me to let go of it until I'm "done", whatever that means
  68. Have you ever been wrongly accused? sure. Learning how to deal with that sort of thing is part of becoming a fully-actualized human being.
  69. When you wash your hair do you blow dry it or let it dry naturally? naturally. I blow dry my hair so rarely that I'm surprised that it still works.
  70. Where does your family go on vacation? "my family" is me, and all my life is a vacation, in a sense. I answer to no one but myself.
  71. Have you ever been to:
    Newport, Rhode Island?
    no
  72. Dutch Wonderland? wtf? Oh, it's a Pennsylvania thing.
  73. Salem, MA? no
  74. Niagara Falls? no
  75. If you have aol, what is your 'you've got mail' sound? is aol even a thing anymore?
  76. What will you never have enough of? boots and sandals, shot glasses, nail polish, and houseplants
  77. Who can you only handle in small doses? about 80% of the people I work with
  78. You are at a magic auction where you can bid on impossible things but you only brought enough money to buy one thing. Out of these, which would you buy: entrance into whatever afterlife you believe in; a guarantee that you will have at least 3 books published in your life; a new car, house and boat each year; unending creative inspiration; ultimate compassion and acceptance of others; a trip into outer space; perfect health for the rest of your life? The afterlife option is ridiculous since it would, in my worldview, require a balancing behavior in this timeline and so the "purchase"
of the get out of jail free card would be worthless.
The three book deal would be pretty sweet, but there is a difference between
    "published" and "sold."
Buying--or acquiring--a new car, house and boat each year for life would be a pain in the ass of enormous proportions. You could not convince me in a year of Sundays to agree to that!
    Unending creative inspiration is tempting...
Compassion and acceptance doesn't interest me at all.
    Outer space - meh.
Perfect health for the rest of your life ... and then you die. Seriously? That doesn't even make fantasy sense.

I guess it's creative inspiration, though that's hardly something to save a bunch of money for.
  79. In the above question if finding perfect love was a choice would you change your answer? yup
  80. What food is so fattening or unhealthy that you would NEVER touch it? I have a really hard time with cheesecake, probably because it just tastes like fat to me.
  81. Which do you love more, your country or your planet? uh. Wow. Weird. I don't really think of it that way. I guess "my planet."
  82. What do you think of:
    Abba?
    very retro-in
  83. Bryan Adams? some of his songs, although trite and shallow, are among the building blocks of my upbringing
  84. No Doubt? there are two No Doubt songs in my iTunes - out of ~23k. I didn't recognize either of them when I played them just now
  85. Are you more logical or emotional? I can play logical--but I, personally, am all emotions
  86. Do you think that tattoos and piercing are overrated? are they rated at all? I like mine. I think sometimes that having three holes in each ear is annoying and foolish. The tattoos are fine, and I think I'll get more once I can settle on what and where. (Something for/about Chris, and my much-awaited Korean dragon, and one more.)
  87. Do you believe that Michael Jackson molests children? not anymore
  88. Hypothetically, let’s say that he did molest them. Who would you feel should be held MORE accountable, Michael Jackson or the parents that allowed their children to go to Never Land Ranch unsupervised for sleepovers? obviously the actor is primarily responsible for his own actions,
not those whose negligence permits the alleged action to occur
  89. Have you ever been to:
    Manhattan?
    no
  90. Disney? no
  91. Paris? no
  92. Anywhere cooler? I've been to plenty of places that were cooler, to me, than any of those three places would be. I'm not a big fan of huge cities, and amusement parks are social experiments + financial deathtraps. I'd rather wander around some quirky little college town in the middle of America with my camera in hand, stumbling on weird and wonderful shops and public art and the sorts of places where the locals come to eat.
  93. What 3 music videos should everyone download? meh. Music, for me, is what you hear and not what you see. However, that being said--watch these three.

(and 4:41 is, to me, the essence of what being in a band is all about. It makes me tear up every single time I see it.)

  94. If someone bet you ten dollars that you couldn’t sing the whole Gummy Bears theme song, would you be able to do it and win? there is a Gummy Bears theme song?
  95. Do you like Bjork? wow, irony. A year or so ago, someone gave me a subscription to the "Red BullEtin" magazine. I have no idea who it was or why they did it, so if it was you: fess up! Anyway, the current volume arrived yesterday, and in it is an article about that singer. It's the first time I've seen anything about her in years. In fact, when I think about her, I'm automatically taken instead to the Leverage takeoff on her...

  96. How about the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club? the what?
  97. What do you think of Moby? no feelings there at all
  98. What do you think of Alien Ant Farm? one song on iTunes. Huh.
  99. What do you think of the Flaming Sideburns? ???
  100. Do you believe that imps, trolls, giants, dragons, unicorns, etc. were real but became extinct? uh no
  101. What sucks? expectations
  102. Do you ever think about suicide? only in the academic sense
  103. Do you believe that Jesus Christ was a real person? How about Noah? sure
  104. What is one luxury you refuse to live without? What is one luxury you feel you could live without? if it's a "luxury" then by definition it is something that can be lived without
  105. Do you feel that you are high, medium, or low maintenance in a relationship? Medium. I'd like to say "low" but it's an illusion and a lie.
I deserve better than low maintenance, whatever the hell that means.
  106. Do vegetables taste better from the store or from your garden? from the garden, of course, not that I'm ambitious enough to plant one
  107. How long have you spent on this survey so far? I'm not keeping track

[From the 5000-question meme; this is the twelfth part. The title quotation is from "I would do anything for love" by Meatloaf]

  1. How can you not like Daniel Craig as Bond... he is clearly the best Bond since Connery. ;)

    1. Just because he's the best since Connery ... doesn't make him the next Connery. That bar was so high! And he's just too "broody" for my taste; in my view, Bond is all insouciance and action, no wasted emotion.

  2. Agreed but, then Connery was a Bond for a different time. I still like Craig in the role. What do you think about the people they are talking about next? Tom Hiddleston or Benedict Cumberbatch... I like both but, I am not sure how they would fair as Bond.

    1. I agree with that, that Connery was a Bond for a different time. However, I think that Bond is a throwback, of necessity, and that the character itself cannot translate to a more modern retelling. He's a misogynist, a machine, and basically kind of a dickhead. And that's what makes him Booooooooond. So, turning him into the Craig-ian thinker is what is icky to me.
That being said, I'd buy Hiddleston more readily than Cumberbatch. Benedict is a super Sherlock and I've liked him in some other things, but Bond is more 'visceral' in my way of thinking.
Ooooh, you know who I'd like to see? Tom Hardy!

  3. Cumberbatch impressed me with Dr. Strange, I think he could do it though it would again be a different Bond. Perhaps you are right, Bond is a bit anachronistic as originally written but, I am enjoy these latest installments non the less. I am glad they got away from all the gadgets and whatnot, that was so prominent in the Moore and Brosnon versions. Tom Hardy would be good I think though I guess we will just have to wait and see who they choose. There is supposed to be one more with Craig forth coming.
