let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like

276: Have you been late to anything this year? Why weren't you on time?
WFH challenges
I am very rarely late. The only times I can recall it happening in the last couple of months are, ironically, oversleeping and being late for work (at home). Both times I got a text at just the right time to save me from bad consequences. I do love a good morning text.

277: What do you take pride in?
    • Lasagna/baked spaghetti with homemade sauce.
    • Ability to match a card, to a person, to the occasion.
    • Nieman Marcus cookies.
278: Do you take the things you do seriously? Do you think you need to change your attitude, whether you are too light-hearted about things or too serious about things?
I think there's a semantic difference at work here: between "seriously" and "personally." I am serious about all kinds of things—work, legal ethics, and my independence, for instance. I take those things seriously. But I don't take them "personally." Things I take personally include bullying, misogyny, and carelessness.
my era
279: Are you into more upbeat music or sadder, slower music?
for me, it's lyrics first and then music. Fast, upbeat, sad, slow—none of that matters as much as words with which I connect. When I discovered music in a personal way, around age 13, and gravitated toward lyrics, I had inadvertently discovered poetry, too.
280: Would you rather change the world or change yourself?
it's impossible to change the world, and fruitless to try to change oneself. Occurring naturally, change is awesome. Forcing never works.
281: What do you think you are capable of?
    writing a novel
282: Do you make good decisions? Give an example of when you have made a good decision.
more often than not. For example, I added more money to my 401k this year than last.
chem & bad decisions
283: Do you make bad decisions? Give an example of when you have made a bad decision.
I make plenty of bad decisions. For example, I ordered new kitchen appliances and installation of a large floor covering at the same time - not fiscally prudent.
284: Do you think you are where you are now because of how hard you have worked, or how little you have worked? Are you in a good place right now?
I have worked hard, at times. I have coasted at other times. More hard work than not, especially since I have been unmarried again. Though I have great help, I can only rely on myself.
I am 'in a good place' right now. There's a lot that's in flux, but life never really calms down if you're living it - right? We create our own priorities.
285: Are you the type to put off things until they are due? Why don't you do things earlier? Have you been procrastinating the entire year?
later, baby
some things get put off almost indefinitely. Some work "projects" fall into that category. I put them on my mental to-do list, where they grind me down day after day. Other things - most things - I deal with immediately upon receipt. I really, really don't like having work things pending that need to be touched more than once. Just get it over with.
In my real life, no matter how much I don't want to do something, I jump right in. There's no way through it but through it, so I go through it. My house is full of examples!
286: Have your changes throughout the year been gradual or spontaneous? Which is the best kind of change?
some of each. (Have I answered that way for every prompt?) I appreciate spontaneity in a lot of ways. Falling in love, taking a trip, selling possessions, buying a car... spontaneous. Gradual: taking a job. Leaving a job. Buying a home. Ending a friendship.
287: Is there anything wrong with wanting to look good for other people? What about for yourself?
altruistically, looking good for oneself is a fine idea. Practically, the idea of appealing is intrinsically external. There is nothing wrong with it, as long as it's in moderation, just like everything else.
288: Have you kept up with current events?
I try, though prehaps not hard enough. It's not a focus at this time.
290: When is it too late for forgiveness?
that depends on the transgression. Some are relatively easy to forgive, and others impossible.
291: Do you give second or third or no chances to people? Why?
I've grown up since my days of trying to be like Johnnie Walker and claim "one strike, you're out." That being said, I'm still not the most forgiving person ever.
292: Do you like people?
in general? Not really. Specifically, though? Very much so.
Bubbl'r purple
293: What have you been enjoying lately?
Bubbl'r water, a new comrade named Jon, my shorter hairstyle, good sleeping weather, and a big project at work
294: Have you ever met a person you could not relate to at all, or sympathize with?
uh, yeah - I am an adult, after all
295: Do you tolerate things people do, or do you get angry at them?
depends on the things and the people. I'm really, really trying to stop holding my friends, family, and self to unrealistic expectations. It's better (but harder) to accept them as they are.
Anyway, my anger tends to burn hot, and burn out quick. I might get mad, loud, and cry from frustration (a trait that I abhor in myself), but I also can calm down and forgive really fast.
296: Are you accountable for your friends? Are your friends accountable for you?
"accountability" factors into a couple of my relationships but is generally not an acknowledged thing. I do have a friend who checks in on my 'mental weather report' pretty often. We've known each other a long time, and they are more aware than most people of my overthinking ways. Another friend and I agreed to work together on some (individual) goals, so we catch up every day or two on progress, setbacks, and plans. For the most part, though, my accountability is to myself, and I "check it" through my journal.
297: How important is accountability?
if you ask my boss, it's a primary value. He is in favor of daily reports, regular meetings, written to-do lists and synopses, and other micromanagement techniques.
My boss and I ... are not on the same level, in this and nearly every other way.
I believe one can be be too external, too focused on others' attention and reactions. Under the guise of 'accountability', some people are actually seeking Likes and Followers, in an unhealthy way.
298: Have you ever had a job before? Did you enjoy it? Do you have a job right now?
uhmmmmm, yes. I have had a job before. In a "non-modern" fashion, I've had only a handful of jobs, rather than hopping from one to another. College department minion, grocery store bakery clerk, restaurant cook, office manager, graduate assistant, legal assistant, library cataloger, mortgage file rep, credit admin specialist - and whatever I am now.
Did I enjoy it? Yes, yes, yes, yes, no, yes, yes, no, no, no.
Do I have a job right now? Boy, do I.
299: Do you think you are spending your time well, recently? Why or why not?
    absolutely. Details to come....
