my notes: I hadn't heard anything about this film before. It just ... missed me. I'm glad it came back around into my orbit. It's a good old-fashioned Western. Morality play, romance, revenge, and family. Lovely.

Hombre (1967) - "John Russell, disdained by his "respectable" fellow stagecoach passengers becausehe was raised by Native Americans, becomes their only hope for survival when they are set upon by outlaws."

I watched it because: I like Paul Newman...usually...
IMDB: 7.4/10 - Rotten Tomatoes: Tomatometer: 93% Audience: 80%
notable quote: "[Marriage is] the price you pay if you want it where you can nudge it in the night."
MPAA rating: not rated
directed by: Martin Ritt
featuring: Paul Newman, Fredric March, Barbara Rush, David Canary
my notes: feh. Newman's character is a snide, patronizing ass. He leads the rest of this crew, literally and figuratively, like a person who doesn't care at all about anyone else. I think he won in the end. Or maybe died. That says it all.
