How do you feel about tattoos and piercings?
I have some. Used to have more (piercings, anyway). If I could go back... well, I would do that differently. Getting those tattoos was vital at the time but has become meaningful for unconnected reasons now. My tattoos are not dumb or embarrassing, they're not badly done or in awful places. They're just part of me that's in the past, now - but not so easily left there.
Do you wear a lot of makeup? Why or why not?
I do wear makeup, rarely. I like the way my skin feels when I don't have a lot on it. I recently accepted that I need to take better care of my face, so I'm committed to a "regimen" for the first time in my life. Pre-lotion serum, lotion, night cream, and all that jazz. The problem is that my source for these potions (a company owned by a friend in the Flatland who was hand-making organic products) is no longer available. Once I'm through what I have now, I'll be back to the drugstore brands.
The world is listening. Pick one sentence you would tell them.
this is just not something I'm interested in. I don't even want to talk to a crowd of people, much less the whole world. Yuck.
Who in the world would you most like to receive a letter from and what would you want it to say?
it's not something to hope for, but rather the surprise and joy of it when it happens
Do you have a desk/workspace and how is it organized/not organized?
I have a desk. It is smaller than I'd like, more of a writing desk than a computing desk. It was pretty well set up when I was working from home, more so for the finance job than the legal one. I have two printers - a fast B&W upstairs, and a nicer, slow color in the basement eBay area - and a separate color duplex scanner. It's a nice home office, really. However, without a current job, it's a disaster area. The desk is a catch-all for financial forms, school stuff, and some eBay things.
What is your nighttime routine?
I shower in the evenings. Then I read, watch movies or YouTube videos, work jigsaw puzzles, and wind down. Wash, brush teeth, and go to bed. Rarely, read in bed for a few minutes before going to sleep.
What’s one thing you don’t want your parents to know?
the full story of how I met probably any man I've ever known
If you had to dye your hair how would you dye it and why?
is it unheard of and scandalous that I dye my hair, and have for like 25 years? I haven't maintained my natural hair color since college. As for why... why not?
Pick five people to go on an excursion with you. who would you pick and where would you go/what would you do?
I literally cannot imagine going on an excursion with five other people at the same time. I fairly often do adventuring on the weekends with college BFF and her husband. I would love to be able to go on vacation with them someday, enjoying some aspects of it together and others on our own.
I am remaking a friendship with someone who worked at the Bank. We've talked about taking some long-weekend trips, which I think might happen in the summertime.
I'm also remaking a friendship with a grade school pal. She has a complicated family life, so getting together is hard, but I can imagine that we might travel well together, too.
My ultimate vacation wish is to spend some time out East, near a library friend. She and her husband travel their region pretty often; seeing the sights with them would be a dream come true.
Name three wishes and why you wish for them.
1. Roast beast, because I love it and it's been too long since I had it last.
2. Sunny weather, because at this time of year, when the cold and snow are lingering, sunshine makes all the difference. (As I write this, there are only 36 days til spring!!)
3. Continued eBay sales. I would really like to unload some of the bigger-ticket items, and soon.
What is the best Halloween costume you have ever put together?
while we were both still working at the library, I once dressed as Chris! It was classic. Cowboy boots, jeans (of course), flannel over a t-shirt, and a pair of white-framed sunglasses - which was the aspect of his wardrobe that drove me bananas. It was awesome, and he loved it.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done while drunk or high?
bahahahahahaha - as if I would ever commit that to print, even online!
What’s one thing you would never do for one million dollars?
at the moment, that's a damned short list. Um, how about: I would not poke myself in the eye with a fork.
You can only listen to one song for the rest of your life, or only see one person for the rest of your life. Which, and why?
the person, not the song - and the reasons are in my heart, not for public consumption
If you’re a boy, would you ever rock black nail polish? if you’re a girl, would you ever rock really really short hair?
not sure that "rock" is in the vernacular, but - sure. I would cut my hair really short, under the right circumstances.
What’s your Starbucks order, and who would you trust to order for you, if anyone?
I've visited a Starbucks maybe once in the last ten years. My order is whatever I'm in the mood for when I buy something to drink, and anyone who would actually make an order for me would naturally be trusted with it - is that a consideration that most people really have?
What are the most important things in your life right now?
the usual - money, health, purpose
