Who in your family do you go to for advice and why? depends on what I need advice. I talk to Mom about practical and detailed things, like cooking (what's a decent substitute for molasses or if whole wheat flour can be replaced 1:1 by all-purpose) or finances (keep my 401k where it is or try to transfer it from the old job to our guy). I talk to Dad about physical things (best way to fix a thing) and definitely which movies to watch. I talk to my bro about some combination of all the above plus regular check-ins about our parents' health and well-being. Why? Because each of those topics suits their particular interests and abilities, and also works for our overall family dynamic.
Who would you nominate as the office DJ, and why?
Chris, or DG, or Blackbeard. Each was imbued with a unique sense of style and taste and their musical selections would reflect that. I might not share all the same preferences, but listening to "someone else's" music is the best way to discover something new to love!
Describe your most awkward date in vivid detail.
ugh, why? I've already shared a few (e.g. here and here, which is particularly funny as I reread it today) and the bad stories are all the worse with retelling.
How do you decompress after a long work week?
read, watch movies, work a jigsaw puzzle, and—however weirdly—get some household task done that's been undone for too long. That sense of accomplishment is a stress-reducer.
If your office had a mascot, what should it be?
Is there a hobby you secretly admire but haven’t tried yet? knitting, though the combination of bad hands and bad eyes makes it more unlikely every day
What do you find most challenging about living with another person?
being ... around ... another person
