vacation: day 5

By the fifth day, I was pretty much ready to come home. I had a day left.
I ran around with Mom & Dad most of the day, errand-ing and eating. Afterward, I met a couple of friends (the boy who sat in front of me in Spanish when I was a senior and he was a sophomore, and his lovely bride) for dinner and drinks. We had some awesome Cosmos and a sampler platter of appetizers. Afterward, the birthday girls (hers was the day these pictures were taken, and mine had been the previous day) had dessert.
the sampler platter Hers was the sampler platter of cakes. Strawberry, toffee, key lime, and chocolate. They were amazing.

chocolate sundaeI had a simple chocolate sundae. I ate the whole thing.
he really did it, but he is not that kind of boy     Afterward, the 3 of us hung around outside until it was very dark and bordering on cold. We saw a fox - it just wandered up across the parking lot! - but he got away before my camera came free from its bag. I convinced my friend to act as if groping the naked statue. [I've negative-ized him, to protect his identity. He is relatively innocent, at least in this situation.]

As we were saying goodbye, I heard a voice from my past. My good friend, with whom I'd lived for a year during college, was out with friends. Standing 10 feet away from me. She whooped when she saw me.chance meeting

Chance meetings are a good thing. I felt very loved, very much the center of a world of friends on that day.
