everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it

Barmecidal
The house looks Barmecidal but once you're inside you realize how sparse it is--there are no bookshelves, and there's absolutely nothing decent to eat!
provender
It's time to make the monthly provender run.
irrefragable
The friendship is long-standing and solid; despite the passage of time and the miles in between, our bond is irrefragable and shall not be broken.

  1. [free space!]
    H, c.2001.
She never met anything she wouldn't crawl inside.
  2. Best cartoon show ever?
    Looney Toons
  3. Does it matter to you if your significant other smokes?
in what is probably the most inexplicable deviation from common sense that I ever exhibit, I find myself perversely drawn to guys who smoke
  4. Do you ever use your full name?
uh...? Yeah. What a ridiculous question.
  5. Do you get annoyed easily?
    clearly
  6. Indecent proposal: Would you sleep with an attractive billionaire for millions of $?
    sure
  7. Where do you draw the line?
directly below the word[s] of the day
  8. Have you ever been on a road trip?
yes. I love road trips. Hopping in the car and taking off, just because, is one of my very favorite things. I had a spontaneous mini-roadtrip a couple of weeks ago that was a lot of fun.
  9. What’s your favorite drink?
depends. At the moment I'm quite enjoying my Stone Pale Ale. I also really like milk, and water, and tea, and....
  10. Which is better, amazing eyes or an amazing smile? Why?
I assume this is some sort of "in a significant other" question. If you know me at all, you know it's all about the eyes--but a nice smile is good, too.
  11. What was your first thought this morning?
"time to go back to bed." I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I came downstairs and tried the couch as an alternate venue. It must have worked, because the next thing I knew, it was 5:something and one of my jackass neighbors whose car has no muffler was idling in the parking lot.
I got up and went back to bed.
  12. Have you ever wanted to go to sleep and not wake up?
sure. The disastrous tequila birthday is one outstanding example.
  13. Would you try to take over the world?
not hardly--supervising a department is headache enough
  14. What is the most romantic thing someone of the preferred sex has done for you?
  15. Have you ever been asked to do something disgusting?
of course. I've been a part of the workforce for a long time.
  16. How much cash do you have right now?
    there's $101 in my wallet
  17. Tell us something totally random about yourself.
    ten
  18. What really turns you off?
    loud
  19. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
    yes
  20. You’re having a bad day. Who do you want to talk to?
no one. Or possibly college BFF, Fluffy, The Cat, Mumbles, or E.
  21. Have you ever studied the Bible?
I used to stare at it during my confirmation classes, wondering why it was choosing to torment me
  22. What really turns you off?
body odor; juvenile cruelty; crass song lyrics; guys who don't realize that simply being male, and as such, built on a larger scale, can be inherently threatening; and split ends
  23. What's a goal that you'd like to achieve?
I'd like to work my way back into a couple of outfits that aren't quite right at the moment
  24. Name one celebrity you hate, and why.
no, thanks. The blog has, at times, been hit hard for the wrong reasons as a result of some off-the-cuff "celebrity" commentary I've made. I've no interest in getting back into that again. Besides, if I don't like them, why would I want to give them yet another mention online?
Here are five people/entities that I think worthy of some Internet energy:

    • Leverage--the best show on TV, with the best ensemble cast maybe ever. Timothy Hutton is excellent in everything he's ever done, but his Nate Ford is a multi-faceted, brilliant wonder. Aldis Hodge is delightful, a hidden gem--and his improvisations are wonderful. Beth Riesgraf is crazy-good, and can do more with a look than most actors can with an hour. Christian Kane is GORGEOUS and plays Eliot Spencer with an understated depth that often has me reaching for the remote, to pick up the nuances again. And Gina Bellman, with the best accents ever, ties it all together perfectly.
    • puffy Cheetos
    • White House, Black Market. Weird, quirky, sometimes lame, lots of times very cool.
    • author Austin Kleon
    • Toby Keith (he has a new album out)
  25. What’s your favorite store?
    Target
  26. What's one goal you’d like to achieve this year?
an actual conversation with [redacted]. Or losing another 10 lb. Or paying off another bill. Or maybe The Big One.
  27. What's the first thing you notice about your preferred sex?
    I really, really don't
  28. Who is your oldest friend? How long have you known them?
    Jennifer. We met in kindergarten.
  29. Do you like photography?
I do, both as a hobby and an artistic form
  30. Pain or no gain?
pain, I guess, though it's not an obsession and never will be
  31. What's something people say that you generally find annoying?
"Can you hold for a minute? I'll transfer your call." It's not the idea of holding that's annoying--it's the specificity of the "minute." There's not even the slightest intention to keep the time to 60 seconds or less, so why bother saying "a minute"? Why not just stop at "hold"? Why can't people just stop when they're done with the useful part of what they're saying?
  32. How often do you change your Facebook profile?
I change my pictures for specific circumstances or as the spirit moves
  33. Do you ever cook?
    indeed, I do
  34. Have you ever been on a boat?
yes. Silly question, considering where I grew up.
  35. What do you do most when you’re bored?
you know, I don't really get 'bored' all that often--except when I'm at work, ironically
  36. What is your favorite musical instrument?
    drums
  37. What’s your phone ringtone?
the default ringtone is called "cake". The default text tone is called "hailed." I've set custom tones for most of my frequent contacts, though, so I rarely hear those.
  38. Have you ever been in a movie? (Either amateur or professional.)
not in the way you mean
  39. Describe your life currently in five words.
    quiet; warm; sore; lonely; peaceful
  40. Where did you last fly to and why?
    home, from Dallas--because it's where I live
[from The Cat, who got it here; the title quotation is by Confucious]
