Outside my window...
...it was a beautiful day for driving up and down the river (up on the home state side, down on the Cheese state side) and stopping several times in the middle.
I am thinking...
...very hard, about not thinking. I'm so tense, I'm biting through teeth. My headaches have headaches. But today was all about shutting it off and driving.
I am thankful...
...for my friends' patience with hearing me out while I vent, for supporting me, and for pulling a little bit away when I'm being overwhelming. Believe it or not, I do notice and try to self-adjust accordingly.
I am wearing...
...plaid flannel PJ pants, a cream camisole, and some very scrappy-looking blue toenail polish that needs replacing. Tomorrow.
I am creating...
...a new photo album on FB, chronicling my travels around the area. As I'm getting to know it again, I'm discovering how much more there is to see. And my photography skills can always use some practice and challenge.
I am going...
...a little crazy, living with two other adults who do not share my sense of solitude.
I am wondering...
...what the criteria are for blog comments and FB comments and likes. The things I put out that I think will be conversation-fodder are seemingly ignored, but the random throw-away blurts seem to live on forever. Life is funny.
I am reading...
- Bad Little Falls by Paul Doiron [hardcover]
- A Slipping Down Life by Anne Tyler [ereader]
- The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss [ereader]
- Apology by Jon Pineda [trade paperback]
- Sharcano by Jose Prendes [ereader]
...that this coming week is just full of tiny accomplishments for me, e.g.: running the errands I've put off for weeks; making the telephone calls that need to be made (and sending the accompanying faxes and emails); dinner plans with two friends (one on each of two nights); sending a letter every couple of days to my friends far and away; and sorting out an issue with something that's long needed to be sorted, handled, and put to sleep.
I am learning...
...to be easier about some things than I used to be, and less accepting of some other things.
In my garden...
...there are three African violets desperately in need of repotting. And an avocado that may actually sprout a root one of these days. And a couple of other plants that are on the fence between living and dying.
In my kitchen...
...someday, there will be enough room to cook and bake without moving stuff around first, and to keep everything stored that's not in use, and sufficient supplies for a few meals without "stockpiling."
A favorite quote for today...
“The first draft of anything is shit.” [Ernest Hemingway]
To me, that means that a second chance may be what it takes to make it right. It's the work that justifies and verifies the meaning.
A peek into one of my days...
...reveals that nearly every workday is the same. Up at 6:33; breakfast. Get ready, make a lunch if necessary, out the door by 7:30. Arrive at work around 7:45; work. Lunch at 1:00 with Giggler, Bob's Mom, the Antic one, and the Frantic one. 1:30; work. At exactly on the dot not one moment later, 4:30; punch out. Walk to the cars with Anger & Fingernails [my female coworker] and Calm Waters [my male coworker]. Drive home, arriving ~ 4:50. Dinner with parents. Read, clean, handle paperwork, etc. Shower. Blog. Bed by ~10:30 most nights. Aaanddd - repeat.
One of my favorite things...
...is my portable music player, now that all my music is synched on it again.
