what we have been makes us what we are

  • What type of music do you like?
lately, I can't get enough of Elbow, Twin Forks, and James
  • Have you ever been skinnydipping?
    Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago
Turned around backwards so the windshield shows
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse
    Still, it's so much clearer
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge
    The moon is low tonight
    Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
I'm not sure all these people understand
    It's not like years ago
    The fear of getting caught
    Of recklessness and water
    They cannot see me naked
    These things, they go away
    Replaced by everyday

there are some memories that aren't worth bringing up, and others that just keep resurfacing over and over. There was one warm night, late summer. Lit with moon and stars. A couple of friends, a fairly secluded beach off the main channel.

    That's unforgettable.
  • How many pillows do you sleep with?
    four or five
  • What position do you often sleep in?
right side, curled roughly in half
  • What do you wear to bed?
it varies, depending on the circumstances
  • Could you ever go out with someone just 'cause they're rich?
not only for that, no. I believe that's been covered elsewhere.

Money is a fine thing, but it's nowhere near the only thing, or even the most important thing.
  • Have you ever contemplated suing someone?
a few years ago, when I moved into and out of the rat-hole within a month, I was pretty certain that I would end up suing the landlords for the return of my security deposit. It didn't end up going that far, but I would have been willing to pay a lot to get back even a little, if it meant it left them with none of it. The house was bad but they were the worst.
  • Do you believe in karma?
I don't know very much about it, but in the shallow and superficial sense: I do. It's a Golden Rule, what-goes-around-comes-around kind of justice that's too appealing to reject.
  • Do you believe in revenge?
    Definitely.
  • Who is the most intelligent person you know?
he knows who he is. He wouldn't necessarily disagree, except to cavil about definitions.
  • What's the craziest thing you've ever done for someone?
the last three, almost four years have been pretty crazy. In the end I suppose it's not so much what you'll do for someone else as what your commitment is, inside your own heart and soul and mind. How far you know you'll go.
  • Do you throw bread for the ducks?
I do. Just yesterday, I chucked a couple of hot dog buns out into the yard for my squirrel friends. It's not just about the ducks, you know.
  • Where do you like to go to on a first date?
surprise me. Just--follow through, if you start it.
