1. If you could see one movie again for the first time, what film would you choose?
The Professional {Léon} (1994). I don't recall when I first saw it, and I wish I could go through that roller-coaster again and be conscious of it!
2. If you had to or could identically repeat any single year of your life to date, without changing a thing except how you feel about things, which year would you relive?
2010
3. If you could cancel forever a single thing you have to do every day other than your job, what would it be?
putting in and taking out contacts. I'm not saying that I want to wear glasses all the time—if I felt that way, I'd do it—but that the act of poking curved discs of hydrogel onto my eyeballs and peeling them off ~12 hours later is an acquired skill and a peculiar feeling that I would happily give up.
4. If you had to describe your idea of the perfect mate, how would you do it?
I did a fine job of it in this post, and although parts of it make me laugh a little (and a little ruefully), it's not wrong
5. If you could master one type of cuisine, which one would you choose?
northern Italian
6. If you were allowed to eat only one vegetable for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
fresh green peas. Straight from the garden, there's nothing better.
7. If you could own one painting from any collection in the world but were not allowed to sell it, which work of art would you select?
7. If you could own one painting from any collection in the world but were not allowed to sell it, which work of art would you select?
Mark Rothko's Untitled (Green, Blue, Green on Blue [1968]) - view it here. I've had a print of it for many years, and even that has become a prized possession.
[from If...Questions for the Game of Life; the title quotation is by Mark Rothko]
