nothing is more imminent than the impossible . . . what we must always foresee is the unforeseen

1. What are your plans for August?
    cat-sitting

2. What are your mid-year resolutions or goals?
I'd like to dig out my "bingo card" and see if I've inadvertently made any progress. God knows I haven't been assiduously working on anything.

3. Are you good at taking care of plants?
I have my moments. Recent triumphs include a couple of blooming African violets, in the photos.

4. What makes you feel nourished?
    toast with lots of butter

5. Which animals do you see most in your area?
    squirrels, college students, and deer

6. Books on your summer reading list?
I'm into "the classics" lately, or at least the high school lit class syllabi version. Just finished The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

7. Do you have any projects you want to tackle this summer?
    • listing the remainder of my eBay supply
    • organizing print photos (a task that will never, ever really be done)
    • deal with some financial stuff that's been too long undone

8. Do you have weddings, graduations, summer celebrations?
my college BFF's daughter is getting married in October. Does that count? H will be there, probably accompanied by his wife. That should be interesting.

9. Which summer snacks are you excited to enjoy again?
watermelon, peaches, grapes. Probably a plum or two. Berries that taste and feel like berries.

10. How much time do you like to take for a vacation?
three or four days away, followed by a day of doing nothing before returning to the normal routine

11. Where are your favorite picnic locations?
I absolutely loathe eating outdoors - bugs, wind, sun, feh

12. What is something that would be out of character for you?
watching a horror film, eating mushrooms, or singing in front of anyone else

13. Which summer movies are you excited to see?
I don't watch movies that way. I'm more of a deep-diver, into an actor or director's filmography, or a best-list, or a whim. See, e.g., my recent fascination with silent films, Anton Walbrook, Joel McCrea . . .

14. Your favorite free / cost effective ways to have fun?
jigsaw puzzles; obscure movies from the library; audio books; cooking and baking; futzing with the plants; long walks on campus or at the lake

15. Who do you trust most to house & pet sit?
I'm the house- and pet-sitter, not the -sittee, and I'm a one-gig woman (thanks to the overwhelmingly negative experience with the cat from Hell)
