men for the sake of getting a living forget to live

"Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways."
 [Stephen Vincent Benét]

Today, I ate the leftovers (which seemed like work) but made the chili (which seemed like fun) so there will be something fun for me to eat tomorrow - and I won't have to wait hungrily while it's cooking. Step one toward the rest of my life.

I also made some space away from a couple of people who will not be anywhere near me without being snarky or subtly critical. There is plenty enough of that in my life that I cannot avoid in various ways; I'm not going to seek it out in my real life.

And I bought green apples, because a good friend who is also afflicted by headaches heard a news report that a chemical in green apples helps prevent headaches. I'll do what I can.

It seems, despite snow yesterday, that it may be spring soon.

[the title quotation is by Margaret Fuller]
