there is in every one of us, even those who seem to be most moderate, a type of desire that is terrible, wild, and lawless

Have you ever just felt like your life suddenly took a wrong turn, and you're not sure how to get it back? The last couple of weeks have been off, somehow. Strange weather and a seemingly endless headache. So much money flowing out that I've nearly given up entirely on keeping it in check; chores and undone tasks piling up. Insufficient sleep, bad dreams, and a pervasive sense that something I want very much is slipping away through my fingers.

How can it feel like there is always enough time to work, and do the things that bring no joy?

I think I have too many irons in too many fires. It's time for one of those semi-annual pare-down sessions, where I cut out some things that are draining and not adequately adding to the resources. That might start to chill this.

Until then, I'll try to keep checking in so that no one worries too much. (You know who you are.)

[the title quotation is by Plato, from The Republic]

  1. I do, indeed.
Hugs. I think I'm suffering from the same malaise. Late winter-itis?
